... High wind watch in effect Thursday afternoon...

The National Weather Service in Lubbock has issued a high wind
watch, which is in effect Thursday afternoon.

* Timing... the strongest winds will be possible from noon through
6 PM.

* Winds... sustained 35 to 45 mph with gusts to 55 mph or higher.

* Impacts... areas of blowing dust will restrict visibility to at
or below three miles at times. Vehicles on roads oriented north
to south will experience very strong Crosswinds. Lightweight
outdoor furniture or objects will be blown around.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A high wind watch means there is the potential for a hazardous
high wind event. Sustained winds of at least 40 mph... or gusts of
58 mph or more may occur. Continue to monitor the latest
forecasts.

... Red flag warning remains in effect from 11 am to 8 PM CST
Thursday for the far southern Texas Panhandle... South Plains... and
rolling plains for 20 foot winds of 20 mph or more... relative
humidities of 15 percent or less and a high fire danger...

... Fire Weather Watch remains in effect from Friday morning
through Friday evening for the South Plains and far southwestern
Texas Panhandle for 20 foot winds of 20 mph or more... relative
humidities of 15 percent or less and a high fire danger...

The National Weather Service in Lubbock has issued a red flag
warning, which is in effect from 11 am to 8 PM CST Thursday. A
Fire Weather Watch has also been issued. This Fire Weather Watch
is in effect from Friday morning through Friday evening.

* Wind... westerly winds at 35 to 45 mph with gusts to 55 mph on
Thursday. Northwest winds at 20 to 30 mph on Friday.

* Humidity... between 5 and 10 percent.

* Fuels... dry.

* Impacts... any fires that develop can spread rapidly. Outdoor
burning is discouraged.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A red flag warning means that critical fire weather conditions
are imminent or already occurring. These conditions can create
rapid wildfire growth.

A Fire Weather Watch means that critical fire weather conditions
