Good shot of this guy! A lot of people think turkey vultures are ugly but I think they're beautiful.

Thanks, Lynn! I think they're especially beautiful in the air---nothing equals their ability to soar for so long, floating like fluff on the wind.

Yup, the wingspan for Turkey Vultures is about 6
feet...hmmm...about 1.82 meters. On the ground they're an ungainly, awkward unpretty bird but in the air they're the masters of the currents and sky, being able to soar without flapping, for sometimes hours at a time! I LOVE watching them in flight!

About minnesotamom
minnesotamom Hi! My name is Kathy and I live in northern Minnesota, USA, where the winter temps have dipped down to -60º below zero F. The summers are mild, usually only in the 70ºs but in recent years have been up in the 90ºs---too hot for me. I love being able to travel the world from my office chair, through all your great photos! Thanks to everyone who takes time to look at my pictures! :D free hit countersCreate your own visitor map!
