a beauty! when I wonder about an insect id, I send my photos to bugguide.com where a flurry of entomologists watch the uploads for id's and for distribution. i always get a reply back within a few hours and often my photos are used for their site. i've been going through this kansas gpnc list....haven't found it yet though.....http://www.gpnc.org/odonata.htm

Thanks Kathy and Mara. I think I did an image search for almost every dragonfly on that page. I also started looking through the images at...http://public.fotki.com/gstrick3/ but no luck. Mara, I'll give it a try. Thanks!

Hehe, thanks Max. I found out through bugguide.net that it is a Variegated Meadowhawk - Sympetrum corruptum.

About tamcat
tamcat My name is Kevin N. Weinhold, and somehow I ended up posting photos on an account with my wife's nickname (sorry for any confusion!). I used to think that photos were too two-dimensional, not really capturing the real person or scene, but now I understand why: without God we are all two-dimensional, but there is a much richer world behind those photos. I hope you find something in my photos beyond my view of God's creation; I'm looking forward to seeing your photos, too!
