The mustang Complex fire flared up yesterday producing this smoke Col. so far it has burned 338,787 acres and is 30% contained. Driving down from the LOLO pass it was like soupy fog with the exception it's hard to breath. The Men and women on the fire lines earn every dime they are paid and a whole bunch more. I have been in and out of the small towns and the signs Thank you Firefighters are everywhere. This picture was taken from the White Bird battle site on hwy 95 south of Grangeville Idaho,

Thank you for the fantastic photo, the disturbing information about how much acerage has been burned, and for your appreciation of fire fighters. My husband and I are heading into NYC in a couple of hours to visit his best friend, a former NYFD fireman. He is receiving radiation for aggressive throat cancer. Firefighters put their lives and their health on the line. We owe them a great deal.

Hope the percentage of containment rises significantly.

thanks for this awesome reminder Bob! I thank the firefighters everyday!! fortunately, we're pretty much smoke free right now, but it's only early in the month - we're under a 'fire alert'- a catch 22 now - we pray for rain but NO lightning!.....great weather shot!!!

Thanks so much for the vital information; firefighters are heroes (except for the few that are arsonists, but they're in the vast minority) to us all! Personally, I'd rather see more trees logged (I did NOT say 'clearcut') and a lot less of them incinerated! Thanks so much for taking/sharing the photo and for the addtl information. God bless our brave firefighters!

A great shot of a bad disaster. Yes many thanks to the Fire Fighters wherever they are. Good to see those signs of appreciation in towns. We've had them here too at times.
Congrats on the VIP!

Well thanks for all comments and to the approvers for the VIP.My friend in Montana has
her Pines trimed up about 14 feet and keeps the needles cleaned up and grass watered so a fire would have a tough go on her property
