Uploaded by: minnesotamom — Viernes Septiembre 21, 2012 — Meadowlands, MN (Current Weather Conditions)

Coming back from an 18 hour, 1,000 mile day run to Chicago to drive a car back, in northwestern Wisconsin it started raining heavily but after I crossed over the bridge into Duluth, Minn. it turned to heavy slushy snow and came down so heavily the last 45 miles home I could barely see the road most of the time!! I can't believer it's snowing here when only about a week ago it was 80º!!!!

Thanks so much for your note, June. :) I was really surprised to see snow this early in the year! It all melted right off this morning, though, which I was kind of glad to see. I'm not fond of the heat but I'm not quite ready for snow to stay, this early in the year. :-)

Thanks for your note, Case! Good to hear from you!! I'll be sure to send this east so you can "enjoy" it too!!! No, I wouldn't be that mean, knowing how you hate the cold. :D

Yowzers, Kathy! Now you see why I don't live in MN any more... here in NC, 75 degrees, sunny and pleasant today. It will probably be 2-3 months yet before we see snow, if any at all.

I agree, Windchimes---it's way too early for snow!! It can cool down but not to that extreme! Good gravy!! Thanks for writing :-) Thanks for the wish for my safety---it really was scary at times not being able to see ahead of me and not knowing what was there!

For sure, Kathy---although I couldn't cope with your summer heat and humidity---it's been bad enough up here in the 90's too many days this summer! Enjoy!! :-)

Anything that keeps away mosquitoes makes me happy, John! I'm with you there!
But I have to quote an article from the Minnesota Climatology Group that says: " The earliest documented snow in Minnesota is a trace that fell at the Duluth Airport on August 31, 1949." :-)

Thanks for your note, MB! :-)

Wowser Kathy! Well you beat us with the snow this year. We have had snow on the high peaks about 12,000 ft & up. We did have heavy frost about a week ago tho. It's coming, too soon at that.
Congratulations on the VIP!

LOL!!! Thanks a lot, Katy!! :P

Gil--somebody else can have this if they want the distinction of being earliest with snow! I was just glad I made it home without ending up out in the cattails somewhere!! :D

Dave, I thought you were going to say you'd just come back from Lapland or somewhere where this is nothing!! :D Yes, it sure has been a crazy weather year, I agree!!

Karen, thanks for thinking of me! If only it was for a better reason, though! :D

I wish I could, Kim! What a bummer having snow so early. At least it didn't stick around. :-) And I hope it doesn't come back to stay either. At least not for a while yet.

Never thought I'd wish for snow in September, but at least it would put out our fires. Congrats on the VIP!

Yeah, Lori---cut straight to winter! Good grief!

Thanks for writing, Tresa--I'd gladly send you all the moisture you need if I could! It's heartbreaking to think of all the beautiful old-growth forests there that are going up in flames, not to mention people's homes and livelihoods. Stay safe.

Thanks a bunch, Mindi! I'd sure love to be able to head down to New Mexico or Utah for the winter!! Yeah, right...dream on! My tomatoes were goners even though covered, when it hit 20º last Tuesday. I brought in the ones that would still ripen but the plants are all dead now. Bummer.

Laughing!! Ingrid, we consider 32º above zero a major heat wave in winter! :D

About minnesotamom
minnesotamom Hi! My name is Kathy and I live in northern Minnesota, USA, where the winter temps have dipped down to -60º below zero F. The summers are mild, usually only in the 70ºs but in recent years have been up in the 90ºs---too hot for me. I love being able to travel the world from my office chair, through all your great photos! Thanks to everyone who takes time to look at my pictures! :D free hit countersCreate your own visitor map!
