Thanks Kristina, Gary. It was strong winds along with the heavy rains.
In the 13 years of growing corn this is the worst damage we have had.It is so boggy out there right now that it is hard to walk. If you wait until the ground is a little dryer the corn sets crooked and breaks off when you try to pull it up.

This happens to our very small corn patch every year. Fortunately, we are able to stand all the corn up and it does just fine.

Yours looks so beautifully healthy. I hope you can save it!

Oh geez Charlotte, you have worked so hard, and Mother Nature dashed it all. I hope you can do as Willow13 says, and save these plants, IF you can get to them in your boggy ground.... maybe you could lay a plank out and walk on that...

Mother Nature is Boss and sometimes she's BOSSY!

OMG! Charlotte so sorry to see this happening to you, or to anyone else for that matter.
Hope you can manage to stand it up and at least salvage a good part of it. Keep our fingers crossed.
Great photos of this disaster. Congrats on VIP.

Thanks Dorothy, Katy, Gil & Duane.
Rod got out there & picked a few rows back up. Katy he has done the work on the corn field. Those rows are about 100 ft long & there is about 10 rows.

He said that the ground is so sticky it is hard to get the dirt back up around the base of the stalk.
We just got another hard shower so who knows if the 4 rows are still up. No Duane no crop insurance. lol

Oh dear, Charlotte. What a disappointment! Those stalks look so healthy - do you suppose they might simply start from whence they lie, and turn toward the sky? Would look kind of funny, but they might set ears!

Thanks Wilma & Linda. Don't know how it is doing today. We got 2.69 inches of rain on the 7th, 2.14 inches the 8th, & 2-3 inches in the last hour today. Until Wed we are expected to have rain everyday from 20% to 80% so even if tried to stand up the bog is gonna kill the roots. Squash, beans, cucumbers & tomatoes survived the wind but won't survive this rain.

Sorry, bummer, what can you do. Start over, more work, more sweat, more time, hanging tough sometimes just is not fun. :-(

That's heart breaking to see the damage. Perhaps you could string wires like we do here for vineyards. You would only need one wire strung on a row just for support with a single loose tie :-)
