I've lived in Alaska since 1969. I really love this wild land. The extremes of the far north shape and affect every living thing. Yes the first snowy roads do catch people unaware, sometimes folks who do know better, sometimes people who are not at all familiar with snowy wet roads. Catches even the best of drivers! (there but by the grace of God go I...)
This isn't unusual for this 'iffy' time of year, and in 24 hours the road was clear and dry again, thought the snow lingers in the woods.
