Don't know this one either, but it looks tropical for your climate. This is growing in the ground? Very pretty, whatever it is! 5th 10.

If you could post a picture of the whole tree, or even a branch with some of the leaves on it, I think that would help, James.

I think I have it! Red Horse Chestnut, Aesculus x carnea briotii.

Rats; the picture wouldn't copy. Nevertheless, if you copy and paste the URL above, it will take you to a picture very similar to yours.

Okay, I will have to remember to go do that tomorrow... I don't have any with the leaves on my computer. That tree in the link is a lot larger than the one near my house, but does look very similar, Kathy. Thanks!!

About gardner48197
gardner48197 4/2013: Greetings from Michigan, where we get a wide variety of weather changes throughout the four seasons! I originally found this site for the weather, and the photos kept drawing my interest! Decided to get my first digital camera in 2010, and have since upgraded to a Nikon L120/P520, which has helped photography become my favorite hobby! I have always loved the outdoors, and now I have a perfect excuse to get out and explore nature! What a great community here, so many excellent photographers and friends, so little time! I would like to thank everyone who contributes, for all of the great inspiration and feedback! Sometime down the road I would still like to get a DSLR camera, but for now I just I hope to send a small view of life from the Great Lakes State. Home of the Michigan Wolverines! Go Blue! -James
