I must be insane to post a fireworks shot that shows nothing in the middle, but this is just to illustrate the power of nature (over 4 miles away) versus municipal puny fireworks (half a mile away). This thunderstorm was on its way to Boston, which probably caused evacuation of the Esplanade (open area) by the (Charles) River, an hour of pouring rain, and delay of the Boston Fireworks. We didn't dare to drive to Boston (40 miles away), although I missed the glamour of its large display synchronized with Boston Pops.

When I took this shot, I didn't have any idea where the lighting was hitting. I just saw a big bright mass in the sky and shown is only one third of it.

edieff, I guess "nothing" in the middle has its advantages, thank you!

Dorothy, I am always delighted with your visits. Thank you so much for appreciating my story and intention! (I check on the turtle eggs everyday!)

Great shot. The middle does not matter, as the action is taking place on the sides.

About belletrouvaille
belletrouvaille May 19, 2010: I carry my camera everywhere since I never know what I will encounter on my way. That is why I added "trouvaille" (good find) to my name. Didn't my dog find a good one to cuddle by? It had been a long sleep since I decided to post on WunderPhotos. (it still took me a month after I registered with it) This is more fun than Facebook! (though I have never had a Facebook account) Thank you for all your amazing photos that have inspired me day by day! Notes: 1. I don't edit my photos other than slight cropping, though I am aware of the old ways of changing results in the darkroom and admire what people can do nowadays on the computer. 2. With very few exceptions, I post photos in a series in chronological order from left to right and don't jump dates back and forth.
