The monsoon this year has been shoved into Arizona-leaving slim pickins for storm lovers here in New Mexico. Tonight on the other hand, did not disappoint. I couldn't even capture all of the lightning...it was all over the place.

Yup, that was quite the storms we had... I was actually shooting a different cell facing west from Sky City Casino. Your storm was behind me and it looked awesome. I kinda wished I had headed to ABQ or actually out to the Hwy 6 Laguna cut-off but I had tried to shoot out at Laguna Reservation earlier in the day. They threw me off the rez.

These were great until the rain started. And even though I was under a small pavilion, the sideways rain was a pain... lots of water spots.

I'm working on designing a transparent, flexible umbrella which will clamp onto my tripod and deflect rain without acting like too much of a sail. I'll still have to sandbag the hell out of the tripod, but perhaps it will cut down on the rain. The back of a minivan can be pretty effective too.
