an intense Pacific frontal system is approaching the coast today.
Ahead of the system, strong southerly winds up to 90 km/h over the
Central Coast - Coastal Sections will diminish to 50 to 70 km/h this
evening. Meanwhile, southerly winds up to 90 km/h are expected to
develop this evening over the north coast regions and overnight over
west Vancouver Island. The winds will abate Monday morning in the
wake of the front.
The front will also give significant rainfall to Howe Sound and the
North Shore mountains tonight and Monday. Total rainfall amounts of
50 to 70 mm are expected with lesser amounts of 30 to 40 mm for Metro
Vancouver before the front moves inland late Monday.
