Weather Underground Forecast for Wednesday, May 16, 2012. A messy weather pattern is expected in the eastern half of the continent as several storms will move through the area.

One of these storms will begin the day over Bulgaria and Romania before strengthening while moving northward into Ukraine and Belarus. This storm will have a significant amount of moisture that will produce widespread rain from the Baltic States through Romania. This storm will also generate strong, potentially damaging winds through the Baltic States.

A separate storm will move very slowly over Denmark and southern Sweden, generating rain for the area and southern Scandinavian Peninsula. Snow will also be mixed in with this rain, but will not be widespread in nature.

The western half of the continent will experience mostly dry conditions as a high pressure system off the west coast of France will keep any storms away from the region. Thus, dry conditions are anticipated for Portugal, Spain, and France, while the United Kingdom could see some morning showers in England.

With regard to temperatures, a pool of cold air will stream into the central part of the continent, greatly reducing overnight temperatures from eastern France through Germany. Warmer temperatures are expected to stream into western Russia, keep that region mild.

London will rise into the mid-50s(F)/lower 10s(C), while Paris will see temperatures in the lower 50s(F)/lower 10s(C). Moscow will rise into the mid-50s(F)/lower 10s(C).
