Weather Underground Forecast for Wednesday, January 06, 2010.
Wet weather will continue pushing through Latin America and the Caribbean Sea as a frontal boundary tracks through the region. A low pressure system in the Eastern US will create a trough of low pressure that will extend into the Gulf of Mexico and create a front that will persistently track over the Greater and Lesser Antilles. This system will kick up scattered showers over the Dominican Republic, Haiti, and Puerto Rico. This front will also extending westward into Central America, bringing wet weather to Honduras, Nicaragua, and Costa Rica. Meanwhile to the north, high pressure building over the Central US will create onshore flow from the Gulf over northeastern Mexico and the Gulf states. Thus, another day of scattered showers is expected over northeastern Mexico. Otherwise, the rest of Mexico will see plenty of sunshine with mild weather. Mexico City will see highs in the mid-60s(F)/ upper teens(C) under sunny skies.
In South America, expect another day of wet weather along the western coast as onshore flow persists from the Pacific Ocean. Colombia, Ecuador, and Peru will remain under scattered showers and thunderstorms. To the south, low pressure will hover over Brazil and allow for scattered storms will continue over most of the country. A low pressure system developing over Paraguay will aid in the development of wet weather over Brazil. Thus, Sao Paulo will see scattered showers throughout the day with highs in the upper 70s(F)/ mid-20s(C). However, higher pressure over Chile and Argentina will allow for pleasant weather with warm and sunny conditions on Wednesday. Santiago will see plenty of sunshine with highs in the mid-80s(F)/ 26(C) as higher pressure covers the region. Wet conditions will return to the southern tip of the continent as a system approaches from the west.
