Statement as of 2:56 PM EST on Enero 05, 2010 ... Wind Chill Advisory in effect from 11 PM this evening to 5 am EST Wednesday... The National Weather Service in Miami has issued a Wind Chill Advisory... which is in effect from 11 PM this evening to 5 am EST Wednesday. Skies will become clear and temperatures will drop quickly this evening as a result. Temperatures overnight will fall through the 30s... and winds of 5 to 10 mph through the overnight period could lead to wind chill values below 35 degrees for several hours across all of the East Coast Metro areas from Palm Beach through Miami-Dade counties. Winds should become lighter late tonight towards sunrise. Precautionary/preparedness actions... A Wind Chill Advisory means that very cold air and strong winds will combine to generate low wind chills. This can lead to hypothermia if precautions are not taken. If you must venture outdoors... make sure you wear a hat and gloves. 248 PM EST Tue Jan 5 2010 ... Freeze warning in effect from 11 PM this evening to 10 am EST Wednesday... The National Weather Service in Miami has issued a freeze warning... which is in effect from 11 PM this evening to 10 am EST Wednesday. This is an upgrade to the freeze watch previously in effect. Temperatures are expected to fall to very near freezing across Metro sections of Broward and Miami-Dade counties and across coastal sections of Palm Beach County tonight. In both Broward and Miami-Dade counties these temperatures are most likely across the far western suburbs. This is most likely in areas near the Sawgrass Expressway and Highway 27 in Broward County... and near the Homestead extension of the Florida Turnpike in western suburbs of Miami. Precautionary/preparedness actions... A freeze warning means sub-freezing temperatures are imminent or highly likely. These conditions will kill crops and other sensitive vegetation. |

Statement as of 6:16 AM EST on Enero 05, 2010 ... Freezing temperatures are possible across a large portion of South Florida each morning through Thursday morning and possibly again this weekend... Temperatures will increase late in the week, however another strong cold front will move through South Florida later Friday with more freezing temperatures possible Saturday through Monday mornings across interior locations. Persons in the outlook area... and especially those with agricultural interests... should continue to monitor the forecast closely for the next few days... as freeze watches or warnings may be necessary. Additional information will be issued as needed. |
