... Arctic airmass will bring much colder temperatures to south Texas Thursday through Sunday...
A strong cold front with Arctic origins will move into south Texas Thursday morning... ushering in strong north winds Thursday and much colder temperatures Thursday through Sunday. Wind gusts over 40 mph are possible on Thursday... and will combine with temperatures falling into the upper 30s through the day to produce wind chill values in the upper 20s and lower 30s across south Texas Thursday afternoon.
The much colder airmass will produce a hard freeze for most inland areas Friday through Sunday mornings. Temperatures Friday and Saturday mornings will drop into mid 20s to lower 30s away from the immediate coast. Winds will be light and skies clear Sunday morning allowing the coldest temperatures to occur... in the low to mid 20s across inland counties... and upper 20s to lower 30s across coastal counties. A freeze all the way to the coast and barrier islands will be possible Sunday morning.
Residents should prepare for the possibility of a hard freeze Friday through Sunday mornings. Animals and sensitive plants will require protection and a hard freeze away from the coast may damage unprotected... exposed pipes. Be careful with the use of electric space heaters indoors and do not use gas heaters indoors to prevent Carbon monoxide poisoning.
