... Arctic airmass still scheduled to bring much colder temperatures to south Texas Thursday through Sunday...
A strong cold front with Arctic origins will move into south Texas Thursday morning... ushering in strong north winds Thursday and much colder temperatures Thursday through Sunday. Falling temperatures through the day Thursday will occur across south Texas... along with possible wind gusts over 40 mph.
The much colder airmass will produce freezing temperatures to the area Friday morning... Saturday morning... and Sunday morning. The coldest temperatures are expected Saturday and Sunday morning... where temperatures are expected to plummet into the lower to mid 20s over inland areas... with a freeze possible even to the immediate coast. Temperatures Friday morning will drop into the mid to upper 20s inland areas... to the lower 30s away from the immediate coast... however when combined with the wind it will feel like teens to lower 20s across all of south Texas Friday morning. The cold airmass and cloud cover will only allow temperatures to warm up into the mid and upper 30s for highs on Friday.
Residents should prepare for the possibility of a hard freeze Friday through Sunday mornings. Begin making plans for folks that might need a little extra help... especially the elderly and the very Young. Extra protective clothing will be needed for anyone expected to be outdoors at these times. Animals and sensitive plants will require protection. A hard freeze away from the coast may damage to unprotected... exposed pipes. Precautions to protect tender vegetation and exposed pipes is advised.
