The National Weather Service in Little Rock has issued a Wind Chill Advisory... which is in effect from 6 PM Thursday to 6 am CST Friday. A Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect from 10 PM this evening to noon CST Thursday.
* Most areas will receive an inch or snow or less late tonight and Thursday morning. An inch or two of snow will be possible north of a Harrison to Brinkley line... and in the higher elevations of the Ouachita Mountains.
* A period of sleet or freezing rain will be possible over central and southwest sections. A longer period of sleet or freezing rain could occur over the southeast before changing over to light snow.
* Winds may gust to as high as 35 mph over parts of the area Thursday leading to areas of blowing snow along with poor visibility.
* Wind chill values will drop below zero Thursday night... as gusty winds combine with very cold air.
* Some roadways may become hazardous overnight into Thursday morning. Bridges... overpasses and untreated roads will be most hazardous.
Precautionary/preparedness actions...
Many wintertime accidents can be avoided with safe driving. Do not speed... and allow extra distance between yourself and other cars. Keep your headlights on while driving.
A Wind Chill Advisory means that very cold air and strong winds will combine to create low wind chills. This will result in frost bite and lead to hypothermia if precautions are not taken. If you must venture outdoors... make sure to dress appropriately.

The National Weather Service in Little Rock has issued a lake Wind Advisory... which is in effect from 6 am to 6 PM CST Thursday.
* Winds will become strong and gusty across much of Arkansas on Thursday.
* Northwest winds at 15 to 25 mph are expected... with gusts to 35 mph.
* Windy conditions will create dangerous conditions on area bodies of water. Small craft will be especially prone to capsizing.
Precautionary/preparedness actions...
Boaters will need to exercise extreme caution if they decide to go out on the water. Remember... due to reduced friction... winds over open water are stronger than those reported at stations on land.
