The National Weather Service in Wichita has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for hazardous winter weather... which is in effect from 6 am Wednesday to 6 am CST Thursday.
* Timing... areas of light freezing drizzle will develop across the area Wednesday morning. An Arctic front will then move rapidly southward across the area Wednesday afternoon and evening... accompanied by strong north winds... widespread snow and blowing snow... and much colder air. The snow will taper off and end late Wednesday night.
* Snow accumulations... 1 to 2 inches of snow accumulation is expected by late Wednesday night.
* Ice accumulations... a very light ice accumulation is expected Wednesday morning.
* Impacts... the freezing drizzle and accumulating snow will result in hazardous travel conditions. Strong north winds of 25 to 30 mph will result in blowing snow and wind chill values of minus 10 to minus 25 Wednesday night and Thursday morning.
