First things first. JOEKENTUCKY celebrated his EIGHTY NINTH BIRTHDAY a couple days ago. Patriarch of the Kentucky Clan, Joe has done very well and is feeling good as of birthday time.
While I sat in a blizzard in the Tahoe on the phone, JK waxed poetic about 70 degrees and sunny calm in Kentucky. GOLF weather. The sad (for me) truth is that JK will probably kick my ass in golf AGAIN, as usual, when I drag him out to play in about a month. I can just hear it now... Hey son, how about playing for a little cash? DotMom needs a new pair of shoes. He just bunts the ball down the middle of the fairway, then doubles the bet before we hit our approach shots. He has collected my college expense twofold.
I kid. He has never taken a dime from me, nor I him. But the sad truth is that he will beat me again when we play, as usual. He taught me how to play and enjoy the game. And every time we play, he teaches me another lesson. See you in a month DAD.
We are hearing more details about this summer. 22 new vessels are coming through Dutch heading to Northern Alaska. Dutch is the last deep water port before heading north. Could be interesting.
The BIG GAME is tomorrow. It goes off around 2 PM local time. Right in the middle of day. I will try to take a two hour lunch and watch it. Hope THAT works out. I would like to see LOUISVILLE win, in a huge upset. I expect KENTUCKY to win by 8. Either way, I go to sleep with a smile. Ohio State will win and be in the finals. And the UL / UK winner will (obviously) win the National Championship again.
Dave, watch the second half of the final four games. You may enjoy.
Just finished my taxes. Normally I have my return by now, just too busy. I LAUGH at the forms we have to fill out. WHO designed this? I really think the US GOVERNMENT could fill out our tax returns form us at this point. Send it to us and ask us to approve or not. Such a messed up system right now. Hell, I graduated with honors and I have no clue. Last two years I sent the return in, knowing there was a return coming. Both years I got a notice I was due MORE than I expected.
Why not let them do the whole deal?
Today the city made a rear flank attack on the snow. The plows came up Haystack and widened the road . It was one lane in many spaces. Now the piles along the road are higher, but the road is wider. It helps. And it keeps us ahead if we get dumped on tonight. We are getting significant snow almost every day.
I have no doubt that VIRAL video about the cats, fox, and eagle is real. No reason to doubt it. How much more does VIRAL pay versus non viral?
Almost 1 AM, gotta go. Feel free to point out my errors.
Heard there was at least one WINNER in Maryland for that lottery. Maybe another in Dutch?

As for taxes, Joe I think you can actually let the IRS figure it for you so you don't have to do all the figuring in the first place :)
Have a great day everyone. We're under lovely special weather watch with severe t-storms pulling off the way overly warm Gulf. Gonna be a nice show I'm sure. Just hate it b/c I always worry about the equines' safety.
Joe good basketball for sure. Kansas beat Purdue and now they have a chance to beat Ohio State. UK and Louisville will be a great game. Sure don't know who to pick in that game.
Son just got his furniture in Tampa. His big move from Louisville is now in the past. He just has to get his deposit back from his apartment complex. He is thrilled to be back with longtime friends. Does he miss flying..sure but it is so nice to have a job where you actually get a decent wage and you don't have to sit for hours in an airport. He is a certified flight instructor and will be doing some teaching on his off hours. His producting for Fox 13 in Tampa will come first.
Great tennis on this weekend too. It will be a fun weekend at our house.
Headed for Homer in May to fish for Halibut or as they call them the butts. First ever for us. Am really looking forward to being out on the inlet. Just hope the butts find our hooks.
Hope your summer big boat schedule works well. Looks like arctic drilling is gonna happen.
HOPE YOU HAD A WONDERFUL BIRTHDAY JOEK.
Enjoy those Cats and Cardinals and the big game.
Heard an interview with the Governor of Ky this morning on the radio and he wouldn't pick a favorite. All he said was "no matter what happens there will be a KY team playing in the final game." You could hear the grin in his voice.
Must be all that sauerkraut that keeps you fit and healthy – PICKLED is obviously the way to go.
I read that an injunction has been granted to prevent Greenpeace protesters and associated warrior princesses from coming anywhere near the Shell vessels. Not that heavy fines and jail time would necessarily stop them trying to get close – though a spokesman said they 'had no plans' to visit Unalaska this summer.
I don't suppose they'd announce any plans – the surprise element of commandeering a drill ship is an important one, I've always found...
Well, I didn't find decorating the Kulluk rig with fairy lights that time especially easy, not in heels. evening gown..... AND my tiara kept slipping....
Can't help thinking Xena got off lightly in her leather based princess clobber.
Is it OK for me to say I want UK to win? Is that allowed?
Just seems a teensy bit self indulgent for a modest and self effacing KULLUK CONQUERING DIAMOND BESPECKLED HEROINE LIKE ME...
I've been using Turbotax for several years now. I just follow along... If you really hate the instructions, Joe, you should do that. Maybe next year.
I missed it, but I see Kentucky won. It is too late now, but, Dave, you should watch a championship game, even if you think you know nothing and will be bored to death. It is always fun to watch people doing something they are good at, no matter what it is.
Joe, are you going to tell us if you know Pam (or know of her)? Maybe I am being too nosy.
Sauerkraut and sausage sounds so good to me! Something I miss from Ohio, as it isn't eaten around here too much. There are some German areas of Texas, but I do not live in one of them. Belated Happy Birthday to JoeKY!
As we (my sister and I) were hiking around this weekend, we noted that the lakes are still not nearly back up to their normal levels, even after all this rain we have been having. Gives you an idea of how bad the drought really was, since it has been raining steadily since October. They did finally lift our water restrictions a couple of weeks ago though.
Sorry, it's noon and I am just getting around to having some coffee (brewing right now) and a bite to eat since I spent most of the morning taking my "lil' black man" aka Panthera to the vet. He's had some nasty blood in his bladder, which was blocked by a blood clot in the "pipeline." Poor kiddo has to stay in the hospital for several days. This is second extremely bad bleeding in 4 weeks. Let's hope this clears it up for good... sigh.
I hope the Wildcats won't have any of that stuff when they play (tomorrow night?).
Thanks again for JoeKY. He is doing well. O put his photo on my avatar. We thought the day was over when this family dropped over. Joe's sister is on the far left (short hair).
Something this reminds me of... My paternal grandmother lived to be 97 and ate very natural, which included things like butter with every meal. Never margarine. Stuff like that doesn't affect everyone so badly. Especially if you eat healthy otherwise (which she did).
I've been in a pork mood lately.
Rotty, who is Panthera? Sounds like he/she is in a painful way. Hope they are better soon.
You should know that I am not picky enough to order extra-German German food off the internet. I appreciate the thought though. I'm getting ready for a very late lunch, and even a hot dog sounds wonderful!
Panthera: he's Mamma Cat's son and Little Miss's brother. Remember the kitty I lost in December? He has been my indoor kitty boy keeping company to my Maine Coon mix female. His sister was the bad one when I got the family and she stayed w/ Mom so she turned into a barn kitty.
Although my MC at first really didn't like him, now misses him terrible. Heck, I miss the lil' black man...
