Folks in the Carribbean and Gulf of Mexico should not let there guard down as the ingredients are in place for a
possible late season Storm to develop. 97-L seems to be getting better organized and since steering currents are
uncertain at best, everyone should stay abreast of latest
NHC forecasts.

The recent quick spin-up of Tropical Storm Hermine was a stark reminder of how important it is to stay current on weather conditions in the Gulf of Mexico. Given a little more time over warm Gulf water, Hermine could have been mean indeed! Humberto in 2007was another "surprise".LinkAnother quick forming storm was Danny in 1997.LinkAs for the current situation, we will have to keep a close eye on Gaston's remains. Although weak, a similar occurence happened in 1995...
