You know, most webcams are ethereal, at best. Totally dependant on the whims and constitution of the cam owner, a lot of webcams fall into disuse or have poor maintenance, because either the cam owner got tired of fooling with it or economic situations force the cam owner to shut it down. Even the National Park Service, which has arguably the best collection of webcams in the world, will show quite often "This webcam is temporarily closed for maintenance." If you look at the WU webcam directory, over the course of a few hours, the number changes often, sometimes by as many as 10 or 20 cams during the day! There has been several WU cams I have saved for further use that had closed by the time I was ready to use them in the blog!

Even this didn't prepare me for the shock I had last night when I started preparing for the new blog: WU had purged over half of the cams in their directory! From a peak of about 4000 a month ago, there were only 1600 last night! Since then, WU has slowly brought back cams to the directory; as of now the total is about 3000. Why they did this, voluntarily or involuntarily, I have no clue.

Case in point: the Guadeloupe cam that's on the top of the lineup. Until this morning, it wasn't on the directory, but if you check the cam, it has saved photos going back to the beginning of the month! Why??? Life's mysteries, I guess! :)

I do apologise, but I didn't have time to give any background to the cams. As time presents itself, I'll try to give some info on what you're actually looking at!

I have two cats in my home, and cardinals outside, my house is a "hill topper", but I'm still rooting for the "Boys in Blue"!

"Girls in Blue" played UConn to get in the FF tonight, BTW. I wonder how they did?

ycd, there are construction cam sites that have that feature, but I haven't seen anything about the bridge cam.

Koyaanisqatsi: Thanks, you just sent me on a side trip! According to usa.gov, Koyaanisqatsi is in the National Film Registry here in the US!

Ylee: Just had an idea:
Would it be possible to go back in a web cam record like Two Bridges and select captures to make a "Time Lapse" movie? I'm guessing that it's already been done but I don't think I have seen anything like that.
Uh OH!

Hi, ycd! You never can tell about gov't projects! My computer doesn't have Adobe reader, and I can't get it installed! Can't do wiki, either!(Gee, I'm in a bad way, all around, lol!)

Two Medicine Bridge cam has garnered a lot of interest from the blogging populace here at WU> Should I leave it up, or bring it back in a couple months to show the progress on it?

Anyone can just come back to this blog entry and see it, though!

I was wondering what motivated the Two Medicine Brdge Project. There is little traffic on the older bridge and it looks like the new build could handle four lanes.
Anyhow, I found this early proposal:

One good reason to keep an eye on this cam is the back ground scenery as BriarCraft mentioned.
I still like watching the progress and trying to guess what the "Mighty Machines" are up to.

Good evening! Another nice spring day here in Ky., supposed to have a chance of rain tomorrow! A little extra rain won't hurt!

New blog tonight or bust, lol!

Hi, Pros! You can always try again! Well, maybe not, as there will be a new blog tomorrow!
I'll give the answer when I post the new blog!

Briar! Good to see you out and about! I never posted this, but I think that's the SR 104 Hood Canal Bridge, the longest saltwater floating bridge in the world! I may be wrong though, you never can tell! :)

When I saw Hood Head, I thought Columbia River near the town of Hood River, but no. A little investigation revealed that Hansville WA is on the northerly tip of the Kitsap Peninsula in Puget Sound. In range for a day trip for me and some place I've not been. Now added to my To See list. Thanks!

And the Two Medicine Bridge cam is a very interesting one. Quite a picturesque view in the background.

Good morning Ylee.
I sure makes you mad when you have to fix someone else's errors. I've told the Queen not to do other's work if they slack off and leave it. The other people who slack off then tend to slack off more often knowing the shift that follows will do their work.
Have a good day.

I know what you mean, Shore! When I've been away from the blogs for a few days, it takes a couple of days to get back in the groove!

I'd have to pick UK, because although I would pick UofL if they were the only Ky. team in the Final Four(and I'll still root for them in the Finals if they do beat UK), I've been a Kentucky fan longer, and besides, I'm from Kentucky, not Louisville! :)

Hiya, Ylee! Thanks for stopping by my place. I've been so distracted this past week - trying to get back in a routine. Long days don't help, that's for sure. But it's a beautiful evening, with fresh breezes and a little coolth. I really suppose part of it is that there's been no easing into warmer temperatures this year - we've been breaking records for a week.

And now those poor people in Michigan are getting the freezes again. I've got a friend up there who's just completely undone - their orchards are completely in bloom, and she's really afraid they could lose the whole crop. Lots of bonfires and smudge pots burning, that's for sure.

Castleton's gorgeous right now - and I see the ship's still anchored off Adelaide - way out on the horizon.

I see there are two Kentucky schools in the Final Four. Who's your pick?

Good evening! Very nice day today!

New blog in the works! Don't know if it'll be done tonight, or tomorrow night! We shall see!

Hi, Tony! You have your routines, and critters adapt to them, but they don't expect you to ever change!

GG, maybe they could've set some pinball machines outside? Naw, that wouldn't be right!

Alley, hope your azalea does OK!

Hi Ylee...I see the boys have been busy working away on the bridge today. They got alot done. Couple of cams have gone to bed for the time being but otherwise all seems ok. Going to be a cold one here tonite with temps going down to around 30F, I covered my one azalea that has started to bloom. Don't want to lose that one. Everything else out back can take a cold night even the Maples who have leafed out. Saw my first robins doing their dance across the backyard today. That is a good sign. This chill won't be around for too long.

Have a great evening and stay safe.

Hi, the Pinball Convention was really fun. Can't wait for the next one.
The weather here has been stellar. Was almost hard to pick; play outside in sunshine or go inside and play pinball. Did a bit of both.

Good morning YLee.
Once animals get a routine it's almost as if they can tell time. If Abbey hasn't been brushed by 7pm she's sit's in front of me staring at me untill I brush her. After the brushing she knows it's time for her dental chew then a milk bone. I should have never started doing things with her near the same time every day.
Enjoy your day.

It's good that you and your wife make decisions together on important stuff, ycd! "My way or the highway" will usually wind up being the highway, sooner or later!

I rmember the first two cams that I saw was one was in the French Quarter, and the other was a semi-streaming traffic cam in Europe, and I thought those were the coolest things ever! Like it wasn't on the news where you had to wait a few hors to see something, it was now!

Morning Ylee: You still workin'? Tloml should be getting up soon- she called "sick=time" yesterday 'cause we felt we should both be here to decide which trees to drop and which to save.
I guess the reason I'm the Champ visitor here is that this is what I want from the technology: instant (or close) access to information. There is an abundance of information in the images you have here - I feel like a sorcerer's apprentice playing with a crystal ball.

Good morning! Cloudy start to the day; supposed to clear up later and make it to the low 70s! Not bad! :)

Guadeloupe cam is still stuck; the new blog has passed the conceptual stage and now I'll spend some time finding the proper cams!

Ogal, my stepdad has similar feelings about UK. All his brothers "bleed blue", and rag on Louisville constantly as being an inferior program, so my stepdad roots against whoever's playing against UK, even if it's Indiana!

Alley, I have no idea what you posted. I can't see utubes from work, they aren't allowed here! Can you or someone else tell me what's it about?

Ylee yes growing up in Ohio I always wanted to go to Ohio State. Infact those were my plans however I had an uncle who was a professor at Purdue and wanted me to go there. Soooooo blood being thicker than my friends I ended up at Purdue. All kidding aside I just am tried of all my OSU friends knocking Purdue. I just want some one else to win the big dance so I am going with Kentucky.
