I was really hoping to get SBKaren's hometown cam at the top of the page, but I can't access it even through the supervisors' computer, so it's a "No can do" on that one! :P
This week's blog is the first in about six months that I have not featured the Milos cam!(easy, Sandi!) On WU's list of cams is a very nice cam of the Parthenon, in Athens, Greece, so I made the decision do drop Milos, as I didn't want two overseas cams from the same country. Also brand new to this blog are WU cams from South Africa, Oregon, Switzerland, and New Zealand, as well as old standbys from the Grand Canyon, and Mille Lacs!

Alley, sorry that you've had such a short night! Maybe after feeding Smudgie you can go lay down for a bit!

Sandi, the warmth of SA certainly looks inviting! There's sailboats out in the distance now!

Trauma, I don't guess I've ever heard of trolling for great whites with a plywood cutout; how does that work? A little over two hours!

Hey, Ylee, you can see scaffolding on the Parthenon if you look carefully. I found this information.

Greece’s Acropolis in scaffolds as restoration resumes
Saturday, 13 November 2010

Scaffolding once again appeared on the Acropolis in Athens Thursday as work resumed.
“New scaffolding has been constructed on the central part of the Propylaea to restore the original marble,” said Mairi Ioannidou, the head of Acropolis Restoration Service.
The Propylaea is a vast, semi-ruined gateway that served as the gateway to the Acropolis, the 5th century BC citadel that towers over the Greek capital.
The new phase of the restoration, which is being partly funded by the European Union, is expected to last until 2013 and will include work to improve the site’s earthquake resistance.

The Greek government vowed in May to press ahead with the project, despite introducing deep budget cuts aimed at warding off financial collapse.

Thanks for the info, Sandi! I'm sure the restoration is a time-consuming, intricate process!

Can you imagine if someone seriously bungled it(Like a certain cruise ship captain) and caused the pillars of the Parthenon to fall like dominoes? "Oops!" :)

Good morning Ylee.
The views from other peoples web cams make me jealous. I should move in with my daughter in newfoundland. She has a great view from her home on a hill.
Enjoy your day.

Good morning Ylee. We finally are seeing the sun, I had forgotten what it looked like. We should have a pretty rest of the day with temps in the 50s. Hubby is getting ready to go to the gold course, what else does one do when the sun shines? I have not decided yet what I will do today, probably run some errands.

Happy Tuesday to you.

Couldn't let you stay at the bottom of my favorite list.

I see that there are lots of people walking around at Akitio. Good, something to look at while all of the other cams are 'sleeping'.

Take care.

Hey I can finally see the valley on the Swiss cam. Very nice. We must have their clouds. Getting lots of rain.

The lakes are so low here this is a good thing inspite of the flash flooding. Took the corgi out and her belly was just as wet as her top side.

Oh, the Swiss cam is just beautiful this morning! A nice combination of clouds, sun and snow - gorgeous. At first glance it looked like a boat pulled in at Kynsna - not such a good idea, I'd think. But no - it's a light pole, maybe in a parking or service area. That's what it looks like, anyhow.

Hey Ylee, where are you? Wherever you are, I hope that you are enjoying life. Stay well.

Switzerland is beautiful at the moment. Hazy with the sun trying to peek through. The Acropolis seems to be under ominous skies rather often. The gods must be furious that the country's economy is in such a horrible shape.

By the way, we have a glorious sunny day but cold. As long as the sun shines, I am happy.

Hey there Sunshine...I see your having some pretty crappy weather your way. Just make sure you take care and stay safe. South TX has been hit hard today and this looks like you may be getting the tail end of that system.

Take care and stay safe.

Ya know Ylee, everytime I come here I am reminded of a friend of mine, a very sharp individual except for 'puters. He told me one time that no matter when he went to the webcams here on the west coast that none of them ever worked - always just black and wanted to know if I had that problem - nope. We talked for a while and I asked him when did he play on the 'puter. "Oh, I usually look around after the 11:00 news before I go to bed." I finally had to tell him - "Ya know that it is dark then and the cams don't work at night!" His comment is not printable.

Maybe that is why Lee chose so many different time zones. The southern Cams stay up longer just now and come summer up here we can show them a thing or two.
We get Levi and JoeA to post cams in our summer and Aussi for the winters

Hi Ylee,
Regarding you post on my blog, it's not that I enjoy working on computer so much as that I'm trained to work on all kinds of electronics including computers. Doesn't make any sense to pay someone else to do what I can do myself for a whole lot less money. :-))

Gonna be a big boat coming in soon on Akitio. The trailer has large tires where the bow would come in.
I'm gonna update

For crying out loud!
I looked at the detail and zoomed a bit and there is another tractor waiting behind the first one. It looked like the first trailer was all covered in bumper tires where the bow would hit.

Morning Ylee:
Great to have you back. It occurs to me that you might look at some of the WiFi products out there.
Tloml bought an iPod a year or so ago and I can log in to WU from anywhere with an accessible router. She has never tried to learn to use it but I can show her your cams on it. I have registered with it as iTrickPony or something and even made a blog entry but typing here is slow enough for me and typing on that tiny key pad on half of that tiny screen is quite a chore.
Mille Lacs had a pickup towing a trailer just now,
Yaquina light is brightening but earlier had a "Red Sky"

I wish there was WIFI here at work, ycd! It'd be a lot better, for sure!

Great to be back, Sandi! I saw it, and thank you! :)

Work has not been kind to my blogging, as it has barely enough time to catch up on reading my Favorites(I have about 15 active!) A lot of great stuff out there!

Good morning! Back again for the second, and last, dayshift this cycle! Temps are not that bad this morning, around freezing, but a gusty wind makes things a mite chilly!

Good to see the Leukenbad cam showing a pretty scene this morning; with a little luck, it'll be replaced with a new blog!

Hey, Trauma! I'm up, for the duration, lol! If you're working, I'll see you here Monday night!

Hi, Sandi! Tide looks to be down in SA now, with lots of sailboats enjoying the beautiful Sunday afternoon!

Hi, Alley! Doing pretty well, here! Work is actually slow and calm, at the moment! :)

Hi, Tony! I'll try, but you know how work goes, lol! I have a feeling I'll have a nice but busy retirement like you have; at least I hope so! :)

Good morning Ylee...yes we are going to go up into the 50s here and I can hardly wait...sure playing havoc with the trees and spring plants though. They don't know whether to bud or just remain dormant. My weeping cherry is forming buds but I am sure Feb will make up for our lack of winter even if it is only for 6 weeks...I like this kind of winter I must admit...Have a wonderful day dear one. Rest well...

Good morning!

Whadda ya mean the Acropolis is not lit up? They must not have had the lights on when you looked, Shore. It sure as heck is lit up now. It's gorgeous.

The Swiss cam is cool, too. In more ways than one! LOL

Here is something to ponder. I read yesterday about the unusual migration of the Great Northern Snowy Owl to parts of the US in numbers that have never been seen before. Any idea as to what could be causing this. One was shot in Hawaii at an airport others have been found as far south as MO and Oklahoma. Could it be they are sensing something ominous for our future like perhaps that Pole shift so many have predicted????? Or could it be lost of habitat for their main food source...

Hi, Alley! I found this little tidbit when I searched the snowy owl: "Peak numbers in Missouri occur about every four years in response to lemming population crashes in far north."

I think the owls are just looking for something to eat because their normal food supply is gone.

Bug, during the night at the Acropolis, they shut the lights off for a few hours, probably to save money. Glad you culd see the Swiss cam; most of the time the view has been shrouded in clouds.

After a quick lunch, time to start on the new blog! Wish me luck! :)
