As I said in an earlier post, Italy's cams on WU are plentiful, with many, many good cams. I could probably use a different Italian cam every week for a year, and every one would be a winner! This week's Italian cam is on the Riviera!

Karen, It must be exciting to have a local with Olympic potential! I don't think we've ever had any Olympians from around here!

It certainly would be exciting because this would be an Olympian I know! I live amongst an older Olympian. She lives right around the corner from me and I still see her at the pool once in a while. Her name is Pat McCormick. and she won medals in diving. Her daughter also became a diver and won medals too, but I'm not so sure her daughter won any gold medals.

I had quite the honor a number of year ago of being a part of the Olympic torch relay. I didn't actually carry the torch, but I was a person who assisted the person to carry it. Let me try to explain that, because it's hard even for me! When they ran the Olympic torch through our town, our local Girl Scout Service Unit was picked to assist. The torch runner ran 1/2 mile, then passed it on to the next person. I was holding a flag for my person, and my person happened to be in a wheelchair. So when the torch came to him, I was able to hold it, give it to him, and off he went. It came by us at 2AM in the morning, but there were still people everywhere. That was truly a once in a lifetime opportunity and I was quite happy that I got to be a part!

Were you ever able to bring up the cam???

Hi guys! Todd, sorry to hear about the incoming weather; maybe it won't last too long!

Pros, I'll bet the Smokies will look like tomorrow, too!

Sandi, I don't think I've ever seen La Mortola hazy at night! Always looks the same, to me!

It is a beautiful day in California!

And yes, the La Mortola cam has been so obscure the last couple of days.. so I am surprised to see it so clear tonight.

Time 2:20 The Smokey Mountains are living up to their reputation, at the moment the whole area looks as if it is covered by a very thick layer of smoke.

I am so disappointed, I have missed the sunsets at La Mortola (except for that beautiful one a while ago). I guess that I am coming to the blog at the wrong times. Also it seems that the last several days La Mortola has been in heavy fog. Night looks just fine.

MT looks 'cold' but pretty.

Ylee, hello and see you later.

Quoting Ylee:

Sandi, British usage vs. American usage of English is so funny sometimes! Over here, a sledge is a very large hammer, over 8lbs. at the head! So, what was Santa doing with a very large hammer? It boggles the mind, lol!

Definition of Sledge ....

sledge - except US and Canada -sled

1. Also called sleigh, a vehicle mounted on runners, drawn by horses or dogs, (or reindeer)for transporting people or goods, esp over snow.

So not a hammer to me! lol

Good morning! WE have a nasty line of TStorms headed this way; there's been severe storms to the west with this line, and to the north about 60 miles they have a tornado warning!

New blog today! Maybe! :) I started this post at 7:30; now it's 9:00!

Briar, Silver Falls will be coming back here at some point; snow? I'll have to check it out! I can't count the amount of cams that I have saved on IE.

Looking back to your previous blog, where I made a nice long comment about Silver Falls, I was bummed to see it had vanished into the WU-ether. I know it wasn't deleted because there are no missing comment numbers. I know others complain of similar problems, but it's the first time it happened to me. Oh, well...

I do want to thank you for finding and posting the cam for Silver Falls on your previous blog. It brought back fond memories from my childhood. I've since added it to my Recommended Links and it looks particularly lovely with the snow today.

Ylee, you have me hooked on your cams! I keep coming back here to take a peek and see how the day or night is progressing in the various locations! It is all your fault!

I see that there are a few flakes of snow on the Smokies, a little more in MT, and a lot more in ME. I love the vehicle trail on the snow of ME.
The sunset in Milos promises to be beautiful so I have to make another trip here later.

There is going to be a surprise in the next blog? I wonder what it will be?

Have a wonderful day Ylee.

Hi, Reno! After my team(Kansas City Chiefs) didn't make it to the playoffs, I've sort of viewed the playoffs from a distance, although I've kinda pulled for the Saints, Packers, and Texans, for the other bloggers!

Hope you get some snow!

Mornin' Ylee - gonna get cold out here and might even get a snow flake this week - 1st ones of the year. Might be able to drop a webcam name or two around Tahoe - but don't ask me about football teams, although batting (Kicking) 100% - all four of mine lost. (Can't wait for the Underwater Basket teams to take to the pool) Have a good one!

Good evening! This is my last nightshift for this week! I'll be back Tuesday for a dayshift, and that may be it for me until Friday! We'll see!

Not so bad tonight, temps are around the freezing mark!

May do some additional scouting tonight for the next blog, and start a new blog either Tuesday, or Friday, depending on time constraints!

Hi, Tony! Hope you and Abbey went for a good walk today!

GG, you sure did that poor henpecked man a favor by calling the rest of the game! :) Sorry to see most of the WU gang's teams lose out this weekend, although Mass and NEw are still good to go!
Enjoy your bird hike! maybe you can get some good pictures!

Shore, I'm glad you like the Maine cam! The snow kinda washes out a lot of detail, and I'm glad there was tracks in the snow to give the view a little added interest!(Listen to me, I'm sounding like some photography critic, lol!) I like the Montana cam, too, and I think it'll be back!(As probably the Maine cam, too!)

Hi, Ylee,

Just stopping by to see if you're on days or nights - looks like nights. See you tonight!

Allmoosed home is gorgeous today! There's all that fresh snow, and one curving track through it - snowmobile, maybe. It's so pretty. Likewise that mountain cam, Absaroka. There are streaks of sunlight and cloud - I just love it!

Dang it's freezing in the east now. We are having a nice day today and a bird hike day tomorrow for me.

Your a football guy right? Wasn't yeasterday some up and down? Saints-49'ers was a nail biter. Could'nt watch at work but was getting phone updates from the spouse.

Stopped at the grocery store to pick up football feast food for last night and today. Had the phone on speaker for the last ten minutes of the Saints 9ers game while shopping.

Some poor man was being dragged to the store by his wife and was kind of leaning, edging my way to hear the game as announced by my would-like-to-be-a-sports announcer spouse.

His wife gave him a nudge and a dirty look. Poor thing was all eyes front. Then I decided to repeat everything really LOUD.

Just my good deed of the day.

Now at noon everyone "GO TEXANS"!!!

Oops, I must've messed up my HTML in post #96(I don't have the buttons on top of my text box due to running IE6) I accidentally omitted "Revenge of the Nerds" after "Forrest Gump"!

Jus, I think you've been BUI(Blogging Under the Influence), lol! Thanks! It's been busy, but now it's slowing down!

We are presently 19F! Normally, I'd feel bad, but it's -13F in Maine! I'm good! :)

Sandi, Newport Beach isn't Ocean City MD., in the summer, as people are out on the boardwalk until 3AM sometimes!

Good evening! Going to be another cold one here in Ky., temps dropping to around 20.
Whanganui is the only cam in daylight at the moment, although you can still see the lights at La Mortola and Newport Beach!

Hi, Sandi! 20 hours off, and back at it! :)

Pros, you may be right about the hot air ruining the sunrises in Washington! I'd write my congressman, if I were you, lol!

Alley, we weren't much warmer; It did make it to 34 today, but there was a cold north wind!

Bug, are you trying to say your belly button gets mail? Nevermind, ROFL!

Happy Saturday to you, Gamma! Hope you are enjoying your glass of red!

Ah, Rob, I didn't say anything about 34 being fun; under the right circumstances, 34 could be a blast! I'm just not privy to any of them right now! :)

Karen, It must be exciting to have a local with Olympic potential! I don't think we've ever had any Olympians from around here!

Although most cams auto update on their "native websites", cams on WU don't. You have to refresh your browser to get the latest pic. As for the Seal Beach cam, I can't see it here on this workstation, but maybe I can see it on the supervisor's computer upstairs. If it's not Java powered, maybe I can whip something up! :)

Hi Ylee - sorry I haven't been back in so long! I looked at the Newport Beach cam again and it's the same shot. Must not be a live cam.

I recognize that photo from Shore. I can see the Casino from Catalina in the background.

I have many friends who were also associated in some way with Orange Coast College and boats. A few went on to higher education and got into rowing. One son of a friend might even make it into the Olympics....now that would be exciting!

The paying of viewing the cams is on Surfline. It's a surf website and surfers use it to check surf. Some of the cams are free - but many are live cams and in real time too. To see those you have to subscribe. I think you can see some for a few seconds, but then it just drops off.

I looked into our local Seal Beach cam - which I did use to say hi to my hubby and daughter when I was in Carson City, Nevada, and they were standing in front of the cam, but I don't think it's up right now. That one I could stand in front of as I walk down to the pier on almost a daily basis!

**Modify - checked again. It's UP! Now this I could do!

Good morning. Pitch dark here as well!

I see that at La Mortola it is still hazy this morning (almost noon there). It is also hazy in ME. I'll be back later to see how the day shapes up in the other places.

Not much to say this morning. It is still too early to know what kind of day we have. I keep hoping to see a morning as beautiful as the photos that Sandi has been posting but no luck. When I look East I am looking toward DC and I guess the hot air coming from the Congress is turning to pollution and obscuring our beautiful sunny mornings (as seen elsewhere).

So, instead of making wake up coffee this early, I am going back to bed. Have a wonderful weekend Ylee.

Hi, saw your picture from Shore's, and your post. While I'm thinking of it, there used to be a free weekend at Garden of The Gods for families to camp free (it was either the Army Corp Campground or the State Forest? but close to all attractions). I think it was always the beginning of June. Not sure if you camp, but thought I'd mention it.
Hope the time flies at work! Take care.

Major goof by the blog owner!

While checking on the cams, I realized I had made an egregious error: I have been using the Look Rock cam in place of the Purchase Knob cam! Aaaarrrgh! It was dark when I posted it in the header, and the conditions had not been good there for the past few days! Still, there is a distinct difference between the two cams, and I should have caught such a glaring error! :P

I replaced the Akitio cam with the Whanganui cam, as Akitio has been mostly down for over a day; I won't be back until tomorrow evening, and I didn't want it to sit like that for two days. You can always click on the link above the Whanganui cam if you want to check on the Akitio cam, as they are next to each other on the Horizons website.

Hey now, Alley, don't blame all that white stuff on me, lol! Mush said he doesn't get much lake effect snow, so I figured he turned his fans on and blowed it your way!:-)

Take it easy, though, pace yourself, and make sure you get plenty of salt wherever you walk!
I know a guy in Manitoba that'll clean your driveway for food...;-)

Shore, I didn't catch that "sunset this morning" phrase! I guess I'm living with a foot in both worlds, too! :)

Thanks alot Ylee...we now officially have winter thanks to the almost 6 inches of white stuff you sent our way....Whooopeeeee!!!! Wouldn't be so bad but did ya have to send the bloody cold wind with it??? LOL Darn was out cleaning off the porch and almost frost my fingers, even with gloves on. Guess I have become too conditioned to the nice temps. Well have no where to go today so going to wait until this snow stops then will call someone in to clean the driveway. No way can I do any shoveling this year. My back just won't allow it. Anyway have a great day dear one. Get some rest and try to stay out of mischief...

Brrrrr! It's a frigid morning! It's in the upper teens. but the wind chill is 7 at Owensboro! Ambient temps on the floor here in the plant is around freezing! At least the shack where my computer resides is nice and toasty!

The four hours over last night were busy, so I did not have a chance to do any blogging! :(

Akitio's updating remains spotty: the last updated cam pic was about nine hours ago.
Allmoosedhome's cam may be getting covered in ice or snow; not much of a view there!

Rob, Swampy's snow would be highly isolated! :)

Pros, blogging is the most enjoyable part of working here! The rest of it isn't much more than a paycheck to me. I get some self-satisfaction from a job well done, but that's about it.

I don't think I'm younger than you guys, but for $100k a year, I'd consider it, GG, lol!
