The Raspberry Patch's Gardens

I thought I would share pictures of a few of my gardens, especially the vegetable gardens since I got nice comments about my vegetables last summer. I will update the pictures as the season moves along and the plants produce.

thanks for stopping by Gams. i enjoy the sights of my yard. i will be posting a few pictures i took a day ago of some colors. just a couple pictures.

the pinwheel seemed to work good this year. my first year at trying it.

the canal is at my parents place near Fenwick Island, DE right along the Delmarva on the beach. it is beautiful there and i keep my pontoon boat there to cruise and fish and crab. this time of the year is so nice. the tourists are mostly gone and the geese flying over are so cool to see. especially the snow geese

thanks again Gams for stopping by. Good luck with your garden even if you can give your garden a quick turn and add the plants or seeds. it doesn't take much even for some activity

Your yard is still looking good, Rasp! I hope you enjoy the winter break from yard work. I usually work in my greenhouse in the winter. It's warm and calm, and if there is nothing really to do in there I make up something. It is such a nice place away from the winter wind.

Thanks calpoppy. yes i have taken a bit of a break in the yard. i have been working in the garage building shelves and straightening it. i hate clutter.

not too long before i will be raking the leaves.

sounds like fun working in the greenhouse. i wish i had the room to put one in my yard, but i know i won't have the time for a few more years until my 3 year old is in school at least. do you grow any thing worthwhile in your greenhouse?

TheRasberryPatch- I would love to have a little greenhouse, but I just do not have the room. You should see my front yard if you want to talk about leaves, lol. Two full grown huge oaks dropped nearly a half of their yellow leaves today making a pile of wet leaves inches thick, ugh.

I hear you Blizz. I noticed the past couple of days the leaves dropping on a lot of trees. my maples haven't completely turned color and they are dropping.

two huge oaks. sounds nice. i love oak trees. i grew up in an area they called the oaks. almost all the trees in the area that were planted were some type of oak. all the roads were named after an oak. now we need some good dry weather to dry the leaves out. like i said before - chop them up and place them ontop of your gardens. maybe add a bit of straw. what kind of oak? and how was the acorn growth this year. i have two pin oaks. you want to talk about ugh. i prefer white oak or red oak or chestnut. hopefully, they will get a good chestnut that is disease resistant.

Here is a picture of those two oaks back on November 16, 2007. Look at that date. This year my trees look identical and it is October 29. Note about 1/3rd of the leaves are already down in the picture...

wow Blizz. what a difference in time of the year. from the looks of your trees you will have some major leave raking or blowing. i prefer to use my blower as a vac. works great. yes i am dumping, but i dump it in a cart and then into the garden or compost

one thing i have noticed driving around the area is that most of the leaves have dropped straight down and are sitting directly under the tree. you don't see that often. like you said in your blog - we haven't had any strong cold fronts move through with big winds.

Hi Ras, I grow oranges, limes, kumquats and figs. All dwarf of course, and then veggies, aloe and some flowers (gardenias and peruvian lilies). I also start tree seedlings in there, they are fun to start from seed, then I give them away. Even though we have quite a bit of land (5 acres) water is a premium out here, so I watch what and how much I plant. Have fun raking leaves, here we just let the wind blow them away, no neighbors here to complain! I hope you and your family have a great weekend!!

Wow calpoppy, sounds like you have your hands full with your greenhouse. sounds like a lot of fun too. 5 acres is nice. the kids love when i pile up the leaves and they jump in them. just don't ever jump into a pile of leaves with a wet sucker. hahaha in a few years though they will be whining about having to rake the leaves. its still going to be a week or so before we rake leaves. i have some trees where the leaves are still completely green.

have a great weekend yourself

the winds today have really knocked down the leaves of my maples and dogwood.

i have pear trees (ornamental - the small fruit that the birds and squirrels love) that the leaves are completely green still

Hi Ras and family,

Well, as you are harvesting your garden,
I am planting mine. LOL Funny how that works out.
hope it is successful this year and the critters do not eat all my tomatoes!

but I do want to stop by and wish you and yours a Happy Thanksgiving Day tomorrow!

Take care,
Gams
