Weathering Life in the Cedar Swamp

Been a Little on the Warm Side

I don't know that it should be considered unseasonable, it is July after all, but in the 12 years I've lived in northeast Michigan's lower peninsula, I can't say I remember it being this hot and humid, this often, for days at a time. And often without rain.

Since June 6th, I've recorded 27 days of temperatures in the low 80s and above. Seven of those days have been in the 90s and many came awfully close to 90. It is 90.8 degrees outside at this very moment, my thermometer is on the north side of my chicken coop, always in the shade.

The humidity this morning was 75% when it was still 68 degrees. I've spent most of the day indoors except for the 2 walks with my dogs while the temps were still in the 70s.

They're forecasting a break tomorrow, into the 80s for the weekend, then back into the low 90s by mid week. Fingers crossed the humidity levels fall, though more rain would be helpful. Hasn't been a lot of that either.

Been a strange year up here so far. I wonder if it will continue to be strange the remainder of the year?
