I fell out of my chair and snorted my morning cup of joe when I read this statement made by Sowell.
Promoting paranoia translates into votes. It is a very cynical political game
How hilarious that one of the mass promoters of paranoia while slandering the left would make such a statement.
The tea party is the party of paranoia and so here are a few choice examples;
That’s because Fox commentator and Tea Party fanatic Glenn Beck said last year he had tried but could not refute claims that the Obama administration was creating FEMA (Federal Emergency Management Agency) camps that would house its political opponents.
Activists Fight Green Projects, Seeing U.N. Plot
By LESLIE KAUFMAN and KATE ZERNIKE
February 3, 2012
Across the country, activists with ties to the Tea Party are railing against all sorts of local and state efforts to control sprawl and conserve energy. They brand government action for things like expanding public transportation routes and preserving open space as part of a United Nations-led conspiracy to deny property rights and herd citizens toward cities.
They are showing up at planning meetings to denounce bike lanes on public streets and smart meters on home appliances — efforts they equate to a big-government blueprint against individual rights.
Santorum's Incredible Display of Ignorance On Euthanasia In the Netherlands
Posted: 02/26/2012 3:02
In an interview with Social Conservative leader James Dobson in early February, GOP presidential candidate Rick Santorum ignorantly -- and falsely -- claimed that in the Netherlands euthanasia makes up ten percent of all deaths, and that forced euthanasia accounts for five percent of all deaths there.
Obama to Suspend Elections?
Added Oct 1, 2011, Under: Opinion
I’ve been speculating about this for years. How easy would it be for a President, facing landslide defeat in an upcoming re-election to contrive some domestic crisis which he can then exploit to declare martial law and suspend elections, essentially squatting in office indefinitely?

Dane County circuit judge Richard Niess issued the permanent injunction one week after another judge temporarily stopped the law.
Niess found the law to be an unconstitutional abridgement of the right to vote, effectively disfranchising eligible voters without ID. He argued that while Governor Walker and the state legislature have the power to enact election laws, their constitutional authority was exceeded by eliminating the right to vote for some eligible voters.
"Without question, where it exists, voter fraud corrupts elections and undermines our form of government," wrote Niess in his eight-page decision. "The legislature and governor may certainly take aggressive action to prevent its occurrence. But voter fraud is no more poisonous to our democracy than voter suppression. Indeed, they are two heads on the monster."
and here is how we turn it into a paranois event.

How are Voter ID Cards racist? Which race can't be photographed? Vampires?
Lotis, I have to agree with you in the fact that requiring voters to show approved ID does not bother me at all. However, I after reading why article 23 was declared unconstitutional, not only do I agree with it, it also shows another reason why the tea party is as phony as a three dollar bill.
When you read the 8 page paper and also look at legal experts factual intepretation of the law (forget about both the right and left political pundints that are trying to turn this intpo their agendas advantage)it boils down to this plain fact. You cannot enact a law that goes against the state constitution. Or put another way no elected government is stronger than the original state constitution unless it meets the requirements to change that constituional law. You cannot abridge the constitution. (isn't that one of the primary tenets of the tea party? Government not overstepping their constitutional boundaries? Once again, tea party showing theiur true draconian colors.) Now granted, that the constitution was written at a time that the Wisconsin forefathers did not carry or probably could not foresee the need for picture ID's and so a case could be made that this is just a natural progression and in todays society is needed, but to do so in this case would require a constitutional ammendment.
History will not treat them kindly.
And rightly so.

Republican Indiana Secretary Of State Convicted Of Voter Fraud
By Josh Israel on Feb 4, 2012 at 4:29 pm
Though President Ronald Reagan called the right to vote the “crown jewel of American liberties,” many Republicans around the country have begun demanding increased voting restrictions in the name of fighting “voter fraud.” Though actual cases of voting fraud are so rare that a voter is much more likely to be struck by lightning than to commit fraud at the polls, one Republican official in Indiana has proved that lightning can strike himself.
Yesterday, a jury found Indiana Secretary of State Charlie White (R) guilty on six felony counts of voter fraud, theft, and perjury. The conviction cost White his job, though he plans to ask the judge to reduce the charges to misdemeanors and hopes to perhaps regain the position.
In a statement, Gov. Mitch Daniels (R) announced White’s deputy will take over on an interim basis:
I have chosen not to make a permanent appointment today out of respect for the judge’s authority to lessen the verdict to a misdemeanor and reinstate the elected office holder… If the felony convictions are not altered, I anticipate making a permanent appointment quickly.
But a second court case could ultimately give the job to Democrat Vop Osili, who lost to White in November 2010. A judge’s December 2011 ruling — currently on hold, pending appeal — held that due to the voter fraud charges, White’s election was invalid. Should that ruling survive the appeals process, Osili would assume the office.
Ironically, White’s now-removed 2010 campaign website listed election integrity as among his top concerns, and promised he would “protect and defend Indiana’s Voter ID law to ensure our elections are fair and protect the most basic and precious right and responsibility of our democracy-voting.”
I'll be stealing that for my status update on FB if you don't mind.
Gallup reported that just 35 percent of Republicans surveyed said they would vote enthusiastically for front-runner Romney if he becomes the party’s standard-bearer. Similarly, 34 percent said they would enthusiastically support Santorum, his main challenger for the nomination and the preferred choice of the most-conservative Republicans.
That means a lot of serious fundraising.
Much of it is behind closed doors, except on a recent weekend at a South Florida resort, where CBS News got an inside look at what goes on behind the scenes.
It was the first Campaign 2012 fundraiser for a group of freshmen Republicans. All face tough, well-financed races against Democrats, and need to come up with big dollars to buy TV time. They get that by wooing special interests willing to pay a lot of money for special access.
In 2010, many freshmen Republicans were swept into Congress on the promise of doing things differently.
But fast-forward to 2012, and the Ocean Reef Club in Key Largo, Fla. -- an exclusive seaside resort and home to 54 holes of championship golf and a private marina full of luxury yachts
Wow. That’s some scary stuff.
Good thing it is a complete and utter falsehood.
I suppose it should not come as a great surprise that the opponents of Obamacare would mobilize—given that the CBO report actually estimates a net decrease in the costs of health care reform totaling $51 billion when compared to last year’s estimates. The last thing those who oppose the law want is Candidate Obama running around the country talking about how the estimated cost of his landmark health care reform are actually going down.
Indeed, not only is the GOP pitch a gross distortion of the truth, this is one of those all too rare moments where I get to actually prove the meme to be nothing more than another effort to confuse Americans.
The president was among former commander-in-chiefs in a picture collage titled "American Presidents in Uniform."
Torbett took down the post, but not before it generated both support and criticism that it was insensitive. On Friday, Torbett expressed his regrets about reposting the picture.
"I was trying to gauge response, and inevitably, I got some,” he said.
Torbett faced a social media backlash after he linked the image on his Facebook page.
"It's blatant disrespect to the commander-in-chief,” said James Hall, a local radio host and a Muslim.
"I was asking a question to gauge a response, and obviously I got that response, so learned a lesson from that,” said Torbett.
The picture showed past presidents in military dress, compared to President Obama, who has never served, wearing with a white turban.
Torbett added the caption: “Humm, kinda speaks volumes. Yes...No."
"I would like to thank those that responded, on both sides of whatever they interpreted that to be, the awareness that I have now it sets the bar higher for me,” said Torbett.
"I looked at the posting, and it was quite a shock,” said Hall
Hall believed the posting and image of Obama in the turban had racial and anti-Islamic undertones.
"Not to say there's anything wrong with Arabs, but the President of the United States is an American, and I think that he should be treated with the respect he rightfully deserves," said Hall.
Torbett said he took the picture posting down after an hour, after it generated dozens of likes and comments, in both support and opposition.
"One of the respondents said for someone who serves all the people I should be a little more sensitive, and I concur with that,” said Torbett.
The paranoia is in bloom, the PR
The transmissions will resume
They'll try to push drugs
Keep us all dumbed down and hope that
We will never see the truth around
(So come on!)
Another promise, another scene, another
A package not to keep us trapped in greed
With all the green belts wrapped around our minds
And endless red tape to keep the truth confined
(So come on!)
They will not force us
They will stop degrading us
They will not control us
We will be victorious
Interchanging mind control
Come let the revolution take its toll if you could
Flick the switch and open your third eye, you'd see that
We should never be afraid to die
(So come on!)
Rise up and take the power back, it's time that
The fat cats had a heart attack, you know that
Their time is coming to an end
We have to unify and watch our flag ascend
They will not force us
They will stop degrading us
They will not control us
We will be victorious
Hey .. hey ... hey .. hey!
They will not force us
They will stop degrading us
They will not control us
We will be victorious
Hey .. hey ... hey .. hey!
