Not sure exactly where you are, but there is a band coming through the mid keys, near west Marathon...might be what you are feeling.
Yep Tavernier mm 92, just north of Islamorada. Yep really honking right now
shoulda remembered that!
Okay, well you are our person on the scene.
Keep us updated!
(hopefully there is not a "next time" but if there is, we really need to get you fixed up with a web cam)
Kinda nice...I think.
Nice.
Dark clouds, thunder around and about.
No rain on me though.
Nice swirly breezes kept thing cool and pleasant.
Looks like you got a wetting though !
It's all good my friend.
Nothing here to fret about.
Ready to sign off for a while.
rest well!
Sorry to hear about that.
Don't see anything on Key West radar threatening at the moment.
Hoping just a brief period of wind.
Did see the first tornado box I've seen all day between Ft Pierce and West Palm. Gone now, but thought we might make it through without.
Still a long way off.
Won't be an issue for us, but concerned for folks SE of here, nearer the coast.
Got a tornado watch again!

hang on to your bumpers Ski!!!
More rain is coming Rob, stay safe down there!
Scary Monsters!
Speaking of which...that band along FL East coast is bad news.
Tornado warning around Ft. Pierce.
AREA FORECAST DISCUSSION
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE TAMPA BAY RUSKIN FL
955 AM EDT MON AUG 27 2012
.UPDATE (REST OF TODAY)...
TROPICAL STORMS ISAAC CONTINUES TO MOVE TO THE NORTHWEST ACROSS THE
EAST-CENTRAL GULF OF MEXICO. ALTHOUGH THE CENTER OF THE STORM IS
MOVING AWAY FROM THE REGION...ISAAC IS A LARGE CIRCULATION AND WILL
CONTINUE TO IMPACT THE LOCAL WEATHER THE REMAINDER OF THE DAY. OUR
FORECAST AREA IS SITUATED WITHIN THE EASTERN SEMI-CIRCLE OF ISAAC
WITHIN A REGION OF DEEP SOUTHERLY FLOW. THE 12Z KTBW SOUNDING
PROFILE HAS A PW VALUE OF AROUND 2.6". EXPECT FOR RARE
OCCASIONS...THIS IS JUST ABOUT AS HIGH A VALUE AS WE SEE AROUND
THESE PARTS. IN FACT...2.6" IS ABOVE THE 99TH PERCENTILE FOR AUGUST.
IN OTHER WORDS...THE COLUMN IS VERY MOIST.
HAVE SEEN A DOMINANT CONVECTIVE BAND ALL MORNING RUNNING FROM SOUTH
TO NORTH OVER THE EASTERN HALF OF THE FL PENINSULA AND THEN BENDING
NORTHWESTWARD TOWARD THE BIG BEND REGION. BETWEEN THIS BAND AND THE
CENTER OF ISAAC...THE CONVECTION HAS BEEN MORE SCATTERED IN
NATURE...WITH EVEN SOME SUNNY BREAKS DEVELOPING IN THE CLOUD COVER.
WITH SUCH A MOIST LOWER/MID LEVEL COLUMN...THESE SUNNY BREAKS ARE
ONLY GOING TO DESTABILIZED THE LOWER LEVELS AND FORCE ADDITIONAL
SHOWERS/STORM DEVELOPMENT. THEREFORE...WILL BE HOLDING WITH HIGH
RAIN CHANCES THROUGH THE DAY...WITH FAST MOVING CONVECTIVE CELLS
MOVING FROM SE TO NW. WILL BE WATCHING THE PROGRESS OF THE MORE
DOMINANT BAND TO OUR EAST FOR ANY FLOODING CONCERNS IN CASE THERE IS
ANY MIGRATION BACK TO THE WEST. AT THIS TIME...RADAR TRENDS DO
NOT SUPPORT THIS...AND THE ENHANCED INSTABILITY OVER OUR AREA (WHILE
FAVORABLE FOR NUMEROUS SHOWERS) SHOULD AT LEAST TEMPORARILY INHIBIT
ORGANIZED BANDING STRUCTURES.
THE WIND FIELD AROUND ISAAC IS STILL RATHER LARGE...ESPECIALLY WHEN
YOU INCLUDE THE ENHANCED GRADIENT FROM THE 1022 MB RIDGE CENTER TO
OUR NORTH. WINDS AT THE SURFACE THIS MORNING HAVE BEEN GUSTING UP TO
AROUND 30 KNOTS AT TIMES. HOWEVER...LOOKING AT THE SOUNDING AND
RADAR DATA...WINDS JUST ABOVE THE SURFACE ARE RUNNING 35-45 KNOTS.
ANY CONVECTIVE CELLS TODAY SHOULD BE ABLE TO MIX THIS MOMENTUM DOWN
TO THE SURFACE AND GIVE US SOME LOCALLY HIGHER GUSTS. THE TORNADO
WATCH WAS ALLOWED TO EXPIRE THIS MORNING. WILL CONTINUE TO MONITOR
THE SITUATION...AS HELICITY VALUES REMAIN IMPRESSIVE AND THE SLOW
INCREASE OF SURFACE BASED INSTABILITY MAY ALLOW CONDITIONS TO BECOME
MORE CONDUCIVE FOR STORM ROTATION ONCE AGAIN LATER TODAY.
Hope insurance on the Ark is paid up.
Keeping an eye on the sky Bogon, and on of the radar screen, but the eyes are growing weary of Isaac.
Just flying by - glad to see you are o.k.
We are fine here, no wind issues yesterday and yeah, lots of rain but have good drainage so not an issue. Well, until the newly hatched mosquitoes start showing up.
Thanks for checking on us. You take care, this is one jumbo sized storm!
Yeah, lucky indeed. This is the first one this year that had me a bit worried. You could still get some nastiness so keep your guard up.
Goofy,
Thanks for the WU!
Those SAT images are comical at times.
Okay guys, only got a couple hours sleep this AM.
While things are calm, gonna get a little rest.
Promises to be a long week!
Preps are never in vain.
Gas prices already spiking in anticipation. Angie has a full tank and there is about 30 extra gallons in cans in the barn to help until prices stabilize.
Also, the bottled water will eventually be used, as will the charcoal and propane. Tying your boat up good never hurt anything, and preparing this time only helps you think of things you need to do the next time.
Hopefully, next time is not anytime soon!
Life is a learning experience.
Hopefully all the drills will help you get it right when it really counts.
People do not "rise to the occasion", they fall to their level of training.
For a play on words:
And that last bit is what count's my friend!
Enjoy!
Hood Out!
I said that I am over hearing about katrina since Al and MS got the brunt of the storm and if LA didn't build a city in the ditch it wouldn't of got flooded
so truth hurts, bloody hell,
but I used a new chili powder in my chili tonight,
and I am still trying to put out the fire. :)
As near as I can figure, I burned my mouth, my tongue, my throat, my esophagus,
and my stomach is making odd bubbling and gurgling noises.
I tried most of the first aid tricks on Web MD like
a tablespoon of sugar that you let sit in your
mouth for awhile, pepto bismol, ice cubes, iced tea,
and ice cream. Perhaps I shouldn't have tried all
of them.
SugarBear has advised me that the noise my stomach
is making reminds her of the VW Bug she owned back
in the 60's. Gee, thats comforting. :)
I understand The Ark is handling the water ok down
there but you are having other problems.
Might I suggest that certain bird cages be made out
of material other than wood. Just a thought. :)
Water, tea, and most other beverages only spread it around.
As for the other effects, well, you're just going to have to sweat it out.
Any leftovers might be used as an effective paint stripper.
Nice to see things didn't get too wet. Only ended up with ~2 inches here.
Got up about 4:30, checked the radar and Sat real quick, got the 5am NHC report, typed a quick note here, and went back to bed. Didn't work though. Shoulda hung around a few more minutes.
Glad you got some rain, but not too much. Was awful watching that band sit there like that knowing how prone to flooding a lot of south Florida is. Hope they catch a break for a day or two.
10 minutes, headed for Atlanta now, thats it so far
for us up here. That big rain band is still off the
east coast, don't think it will come around from the
looks of it now.
Remind me to make "mild chili" next time! :)
Saw your note on burn remedies, will try that next time.
Time to start another one.
