Hi everybody, Dr. Rob Carver filling in for Jeff while he's on vacation.

Things have quieted down in the tropics. No invests are active, and the tropical waves at sea don't have many thunderstorms associated with them. However, the moisture associated with Alex and TD Two is still bring widespread showers to Mexico/Texas which is contributing to flooding alon the Rio Grande. Here are several videos documenting the troubles along the Rio Grande.

Finally, here's a story about relief efforts in northern Mexico for villages cutoff by flood damaged roads and bridges.

Next update
Jeff should be back on Monday. Have a good weekend.

Because they have nothing to do with weather. You usually act better--make your own entry about that topic.
Not everybody have dollars in their pockets on this site, some have pesos, bolivares, Guatemalans pesos, etc. Since many other nations are affected by hurricanes besides the U.S.

Lol. I missed a perfectly good hail storm the other day. About 2 seconds after the last hail stone bounced off the porch I finally saw the little picture of a movie camera on the dial. If it happens again I'm ready! :D

Shouldn't use those two words in the same sentence. People could get the wrong idea. LOL Although at my age, most Nurses I know work the graveyard shift.

The way I do it with my digital camera is a setting called "burst" which takes about 10 consecutive pictures with a fraction of a second inbetween them. I'm reading down the posts a bit late so if someone already answered your question then you can disregard this! haha..

I'm still learning with my digital. Last year at homecoming I got some great shots of the fireworks. Pretty cool to show them bursting from beginning to end. After I did that I noticed it has a special setting for fireworks. Lol. I'll get it one day. :)

Notice how often the word hate is used on this blog. I should do a paper on it. But I would hate to spend the time.

There is a big difference between an off-topic entry which is a diversion and lightens the mood of the blog and inflammatory remarks which are off-topic on weather and have no relevance on these blogs. Discretion is the better part of valor.

There is a very large lack of activity along the NE RING OF FIRE occuring compared to the REST.....no professional but, to me this really looks bad as Stress will eventually have to be released soon and when this pops it could be really bad.........

Truth be told I never took the time to learn how to do it with a digital. (I assume you are using digital...?) I inherited the 35mm and bought a few used lenses (wide angle). My daughter has been insisting on teaching me how to use her digital for lightning, but I don't think she knows how to do it. How do you expose a single frame of a digital camera for more than 3-7 sec?

Either way I look forward to seeing more of your work.

2373 Thank you ! Yes, see everyone. Pottery got it. He clearly understands higher order humor.

But enough about that, now back to a blog topic. I like what BP is trying to do, but they are risking an even bigger blow-out if the riser can not handle the additional pressures and loads this will generate.

They must have a pretty good idea of the integrity of the BOP or they would not attempt this.
Also, with the 'good news' that the intercept drill is ahead of schedule I would have thought that if they had any doubts they would have left it alone.
We shall see.
Great stuff though...

(this does not take away from the horror of the situation...)

Here are the remarks that went with the budget request submitted by NASA's new admin:

You first need a DSLR that supports longer shutter speeds.. Until you get there you are kind of out of gas.. Unless of course you have really big digital media and a very strong trigger finger.. LOL
