yea, lets get through this one first...but i do know what your talking about...its just gonna depend on how much cold air sticks around this week to determine if it will be a rainy or snowy christmas eve...
is it all snow even though radar says mix for you?
The snow is mixing with a little sleet. Should be this way overnight and by morning we will wake up to heavy snow.
Good OL' WABC :)!! Does anyone have an updated surface map? Last one on NCEP is 18Z.
Already mixing in Williamsburg
winds gonna pick up off the ocean though, and drive those temps back up.
looks like the freezing/mixing line is dropping se fairly quickly...maybe you'll get more frozen out of this than you think...we will see...
Snow is coming down pretty good. Roads just wet.
They have changed our forecast totals to be 20+ inches
That quickly?? That sounds promising for us.
yep all rain, and the faster it drops the better, but temps have gone up 1 degree in the past 1 and a half :(
Yup temps went from 36 to now 32 and dropping.
Our forecast from Wakefiled NWS
Tonight: Snow. The snow could be heavy at times. Low around 28. East wind 5 to 8 mph increasing to between 14 and 17 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. Total nighttime snow accumulation of 7 to 11 inches possible.
Saturday: Snow. The snow could be heavy at times. High near 31. North wind between 14 and 17 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New snow accumulation of 10 to 14 inches possible.
that sucks, but dont fret...i see you getting some down there this winter...this will be the first of many storms we will have to watch over the next 4 months...
Just an hour or so west of you on 64 has lots already. Traffic cams hard to see right now, but couple seem to have night vision.
WOW, 17 to 25 INCHES!!!!
Yeah for us here in Richmond its comin down pretty good and accumulating to the grassy surfaces. Only been snowing an hour. A little sleet mixed in as well.
Tonight
Snow this evening...then snow and sleet after midnight. Snow and sleet accumulation of 2 to 4 inches.
if it gets heavy in the next few hours....were gonna get more than 2-4 inches overnight...
Oh snap, it's Lefty!!! I haven't seen you on the blogs in ages!
Snow has been falling less than a hour.
Yeah. I usually Lurk so I am always around lol. I have to live blog this storm some. We in the bulls eye lol
WOW! That's some storm
Nice to see you back.
whoa DUDE!!!
I have a feeling you may have a hard time finding those flowerpots tomorrow morning.
I figured the old members would enjoy my presence lol :-D
Yep, I'm in that bullseye too up in the DC burbs in VA. I'd better grab my computer and head for home. Might even bring the snow shovel inside for easier finding in the AM.
Yeah, this system has plenty of subtropical moisture mixed in. It has nearly everything a strong nor'easter would need, the biggest question is placement in relation to the coast.
goodness I feel like a little kid again, seeing lefty AND cosmic at the same time. And it looks like Lefty has spellcheck, hahaha!
oh man, real good to see ya.
Drive safe!
That's not a lot by our standards, but I do realise it's supposed to snow close to 20 inches (50 cm) at your location. "A lot" by the standards here (S. Ontario) would be more than 25 cm (10 in).
Oh yeah. Spell checker is awesome. Love me some Google chrome
Nice. Been a good 5 or 6 years since we seen one of these storms round here lol
you are correct sir...how close to the coast has my snowfall range from 3-6 inches to 12-16 inches...id prefer the smaller amount only because people in this area tend to lose brain function when it comes to snow...and Virginia, esp. central and eastern don't have the equipment to handle large amounts...anything over 4-6 and back roads aren't touched for days...
Will post new pics in a few mins.
Nearest I64 cam to you is here.
Oh, Gov. Tim Kaine has declared one for VA, too, but maybe someone already mentioned that -- just hopped back on.
