That's right, I did it again but on a much grander scale.
Thank you 22 inches of snow! So apparently I am an eskimo after all. HeavySnow likey heavy snow a lot. I want more please. Happy New Year to all!

Thanks! My kids are much cuter in person.
Actually Ogal, UPWeatherdog is an incredibly accomplished igloo maker. But he does live in the UP of Michigan which gives him somewhat of an advantage over this Mid-Atlantic eskimo wannabe.
I hope you're right about another big snow! Maybe your son should get himself on more flights into DC for my snow's sake. Philly got too much last time.
Way better than ours this year.LOL
We only have a large pit dug in the snow with a wall of large icy blocks and balls of snow around the pit. We are like a month behind construction due to late snow and too much cold when it finally came, so no sticky snow.
We didn't start building at all when the snow was sticky on Christmas, which was a BAD mistake. We spent too much time riding around on the snowmobile, and it was raining and snowing heavy so it was too uncomfortable to work on the fort.
Now we are in the deep freeze and everything is frozen, so now the only thing we can do is cut bricks of snow and stack them, and then when we get fresh snow use the snowblower to blow snow into the cracks. The problem is, the snow is lake effect and it has stayed to my east, so we havn't had anymore fresh snow. We are thinking of building part of our snowfort buy making a snow pike and carving it out, however, our fort is on a hill and getting snow up there is hard unless we get fresh snow on the driveway to use the snowblower.
Looks like we could see significant snow on Thursday, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed!
Hey UPWD! I know what you mean about the igloo making. That's why I made mine differently this year. The big snow was too powdery to build it with blocks like last time. Mine was built by shoveling lots of snow off of my roof onto my deck below and then... dig and tunnel. Lots and lots of work. But so cool when it's done. I was on my back carving out the chamber until about 3:30am. Too funny and too much fun. The igloo is only 3 feet high now and I can't tell if there is a chamber left inside. More snow needed ASAP!
Double levels. Wow! My pile will never be that big. I need to dig a big lake north and west of me.
I guess most of your snow has melted by now, but maybe this winter has some more good snows in store for you. Out here on the north side of Denver, I've had a total of 41" for the season so far...not bad at all. Happy New Year!
We also build a sled launch from the top too.
When we would build a fort, we would build a ramp to the top to bring up snow. However, a few years ago I must have brought my plastic saucer sled up the ramp and went down, then we realized the ramp actually makes a good place to sled, so now we always turn the ramp into a sled launch!
I'm jealous. That's awesome.
Hey Mark! I'm at 25 inches for the season. Not too shabby for me. Only piles remain and some properly angled yards are still snow covered. More to come.
FINALLY!!!
Thanks for sharing the Igloo, now I want to come play in it. LOL
The heavy family is growing so big. Their smiles show us how much fun they are having.
Stay warm, and by the way "Take this COLD weather back up north.
Happy New Year!!
Happy New Year.
You look like such a happy, proud Papa heavy. Can't believe how big Heavy Jr. is getting to be. All of them for that matter. Time flies when you are having fun no?
Code the babies are growing aren't they?
I just LOVE your igloo spirit! Your children are sooooooo lucky to have you as a dad. Trust me on this, spoken from a mom with two grown children and 2 grandchildren, they do reflect back and remember all the times just like this. They will stay with them forever. You might not think so for awhile...but then one day they'll share with you that that was the best time of their life and they'll be thankful for the fun memories you helped create for them.
Promise you on that one.
P.S. You all look GREAT and I can't believe how much the kids have grown! Don't stay away so long next time.
Our yard is like the last yard to have it's snow melt in my neighborhood! LOL
We are on a hill facing south, but the hill is mostly blocked by the house, and the rest of the yard is blocked by trees to the south, so our yard has a lot of shadows in the winter. It's funny how our neighbors across the street can have little or no snow cover in April and we still have a foot or more!
:)
HAPPY NEW YEAR!
Yes, my hair is more light blonde or something. Hahahahaha. Thanks for noticing. I wish it were blonde that my hair keeps turning.
Thanks for coming by everyone.
Thanks for the compliment code. I'd say that you're not half bad to look at either, except I've only ever seen half of you, your backside in every photo. Hahahaaaa. So your better than not half bad, you're all good!
Hey Karen! I will try not to be such a stranger on here but those 3 kids keep me busy.
Rays- keep your Florida 50's, I don't want any part of those balmy temps!
Unclemush- I hope I get to have even more snow later this week, just trying to stay ahead of you.
The igloo needs refurbishing! More snow now!
Anyhow, a net poodle friend of mine in MN showed us pictures of a quinzy. It's a snow shelter as well. Tunneled through the snow instead of tall like an igloo. Next snow, you could make a maze to your igloo. Yes, my mind is working OT this very cold morning. I want spring, you can have all of ol' man winter!
A quinzy? I'll need a lot more snow for that. Send your cold air this way!
A poo is a poo is a poo. Ours are the big ones though. One of hers even joined them on the digging. Pic was hilarious.
Yayyy for Pumpkin! Hope she has a few more good years. My toy lived to be 20.
Would happily send you this 30F brrrr if I could. It just ain't right you know!
Unfortunately,I think Pumpkin's good years are behind her. Okay years ahead of her maybe.

==Discussion==
a strong storm system pushing across the western United States is
forecast to move into the American plains this weekend bringing
widespread snow to southern Manitoba beginning this evening.
This storm system is expected to occur in two phases. The initial
phase will bring an area of snow over southwest Manitoba this
evening spreading into the Red River valley and southeast Manitoba
tonight into Saturday morning. In general about 5 to 10 cm of snow
is expected with this initial band, with snow possibly mixed with ice
pellets or freezing drizzle at times. This area of snow will push
north into the interlake regions Saturday with snowfall tapering to
flurries or drizzle over southeastern Manitoba during the day
Saturday.
Snow is expected to Blossom again over southern Manitoba Saturday
night into Sunday as a stronger Colorado low system moves into
Minnesota. This system will likely bring another 10 to 15 cm
of snow Sunday through Monday morning. In addition strong northerly
winds gusting to 60 to 70 km/h will develop late Sunday and persist
through Monday morning. These strong winds combined with the falling
snow will likely generate poor visibilities in snow and blowing snow
over southern Manitoba with blizzard conditions possible in open
areas. The snow is expected to taper off to flurries Monday
afternoon and the winds gradually diminish Monday evening.
Total storm snowfall amounts from this evening through Monday
morning are expected to range from 15 to 25 cm over most of
southern Manitoba with a band of higher amounts of 25 to 30 cm
possible over western Manitoba especially along the Manitoba
Escarpment.
This winter storm can produce poor travelling conditions. Persons in
or near these areas should be on the lookout for adverse weather
conditions and listen for updated warnings.
Please refer to the latest public forecasts for further details.

Our snowfort now has one complete room, and we are adding another bigger room. We are going to try and finish it tommorow. We are supposed to get some freezing rain followed by several inches of snow, up to 9 inches.
The conditions look to be ideal for them, and they do have a grand time. No old folks, and the chaperones only in thier twenties all hands do have a grand time that is talked about from one year to the next.
Thanks for dropping by
ROB
Good luck to you! Not sure your neighboring folks feel the same. LOL
Have fun heavy family!
so more snow heading your way again.
Updog, I saw that picture of the snow building you made lsts year.. it was a Snow house!
Cannot wait to see this one.
So HS, hope you and your family are ready for another snow storm!!!
enjoy it.
but Imagine being here...lol
Guess you're out running errands to get ready for another Monster Storm!! When this one is done, the DC area will have had more snow this winter than Denver has had. LOL how often does that happen?! Denver has had 40" at the airport so far this season, and we've had 42" at our house. But very little snow in the last month. You may top 50" for the season with this storm. Guess this makes up for all those "snowless" winters...enjoy :)
Hope you folks have power. I hear that there are widespread outages up your way.
Saw over on Bliz blog your power went out last night around mid night and just now on again.
I'll bet you are in heaven with 2 big storms within a few weeks of each other.
You probably love these El Nino winters LOL
Daughter over in West Chester, PA (30 miles west of Philly) as of 7am had 18" and still has not stopped so much more by now.
She send me some pics I put in my header she took at 7am this morning.
She got Baron (2yrs old) a snow suit so they are hoping tomorrow ti take Baron out for his first time to play in snow and go sledding.
Enjoy your snow!
This storm looks like it will set the all-time single-storm record for Baltimore, and now Philly looks poised to record it's second 20" storm in the same winter!!
Anyway...enjoy the storm...this has to be the most awesome snow season you've ever seen :)
My frozen tundra snow is compacted and powderized. It's not conducive to play in. The only thing I can do now is go out and CHOP it up with an axe, shovel it into a pile in the shady spot of my yard, and wait for the Spring temps and a little moisture so I can work with it. Sigh, HEAVY JEALOUSY LOL!
All kidding aside, Here's hoping you and family can get out and enjoy nature's bounty...
I hope that you and yours are well.
Daughter told me the snow was way to dry and powdery to even make a snowball..
so no new forts from this one..until it melts for a little while.
got some pics she sent today of Grandson's first sled ride in the snow.
Hope all is well and you and the kids are having fun!
So glad your dream, came true.
Ahhhhhhhh. Awwwwwwww.
Aqua, imagine T-Storms everyday, all summer long. Big booming ones. That's this winter for me.
Thanks for the RHCP and that hey oh...
Thanks for dropping by all. I'm glad when you think of lots of snow, heavy snow, you think of me. Fondly even, perhaps. I am indeed in heaven and lazy. No igloo yet, but it can be built with this snow gams. I can do it. Coming soon.
67 inches so far for the season. 10-20 forecasted starting tomorrow afternoon. Ahahahahahahahahahahahaha.
Dudes, and dudettes, where's my car? No seriously.
