No Environmental Science, or Meteorolgy degrees to be found here. All I can offer is three decades of experience observing tropical Atlantic systems.

Lee County’s unemployment rate dropped nearly half a percentage point in February, while the statewide jobless rate remained unchanged, according to data released Friday.
The area’s unemployment rate decreased from 8.3 percent in January to 7.9 percent in February. Lee County has the fifth-lowest jobless rate of Alabama’s 67 counties.
Neighboring counties Chambers, Macon, Russell and Tallapoosa all had double-digit unemployment rates in February.
Meanwhile, the state’s unemployment rate remained static at 9.3 percent after enjoying modest decreases over much of 2010.
“Our unemployment rate for February remained stable and did not increase, which is something we’re always glad to be able to say,” said Tom Surtees, director of Alabama’s Department of Industrial Relations
You live in a county named Lee as well?
I wish the Lee county I lived in had as good an unemployment rate!
Why the drastic variations in your states unemployment rate from county to county?
I saw rates as high as 21%.
Something in your county/or the other counties is causing a difference.
Hummmmm?
Gas prices must be lower in your county.
Snicker:O)
Gas prices here are ridiculous!
$3.75 to $3.89/gal
Whats your counties sales tax rate?
Lee County Florida is at 6%.
Well at least the price of milk is keeping up with gasoline.
Milk and toast are now too expensive for me.
Too bad the corn used to feed the cows is being used to create pollution causing Ethanol.
And the net result is the price to transport my bread is going up.
Sales Tax here is 7.5%I believe...gas is 3.59...milk is 3.70...bread is 1.89...rent runs 550/a month...home prices for a new home are in the low 100s for new...70s for used...in the AVERAGE hoods....land will run ya 12-18k per acer developed...or 6-10 undeveloped ...more you buy the cheaper it is...all this is in the county,,,not in town.
Agreed
Yes, comm's up is bad.....thats why I bought them! Really I bought a little bit of silver at 16-18, its around 40 today....12 months!
Not many think of the impact on the price of everything when gas goes up. Think of the farming industry just to start, then transportation and on and on. This is not going to be fun.
I found this good enough to share also :)
How many boats can travel to Venezuela to fill up and save money?
Hummmm, anyone want to pitch in on a tanker of gas from that country to resell in the US :)

We just have to keep on smiling through the rain......
Inflation Actually Near 10% Using Older Measure
After former Federal Reserve Chairman Paul Volcker was appointed in 1979, the consumer price index surged into the double digits, causing the now revered Fed Chief to double the benchmark interest rate in order to break the back of inflation. Using the methodology in place at that time puts the CPI back near those levels.
Inflation, using the reporting methodologies in place before 1980, hit an annual rate of 9.6 percent in February, according to the Shadow Government Statistics newsletter.
So if you have money in a CD, earning 2% interest a year, congratulations you are LOSING over 7.5% value on your savings a year!!!
regular is now about to cross into the $4/gal mark here in Broward County.
Funny thing that this is suppose to be a study of gasoline prices for this summer.... However, judging from the observations posted here, and elsewhere, pricers have ALREADY surpassed this forecast!!!
here in jacksonville, we're hanging tight around $3.78, give or take a few cents. I have not seen anything over $3.79, well not yet anyways. Our prices have not gone up this week.
But then again, WTI is not jumping up $3 a day, like it did last Friday. we'll see how the weekend goes.
Sorry to hear about others. (shakes head sadly) I gotta go to Wallymart today; I'll pop a coupla pre-emptive valiums and get thru it somehow.
I did not have to "fill up" today but saw another sign for $3.85 gallon...
Hope you are enjoying your weekend!
#3 Due to U.S. ethanol subsidies, almost a third of all corn grown in the United States is now used for fuel. This is putting a lot of stress on the price of corn.
#8 The tsunami and subsequent nuclear crisis in Japan have rendered vast agricultural areas in that nation unusable. In fact, there are many that believe that eventually a significant portion of northern Japan will be considered to be uninhabitable. Not only that, many are now convinced that the Japanese economy, the third largest economy in the world, is likely to totally collapse as a result of all this.
#9 The price of oil may be the biggest factor on this list. The way that we produce our food is very heavily dependent on oil. The way that we transport our food is very heavily dependent on oil. When you have skyrocketing oil prices, our entire food production system becomes much more expensive. If the price of oil continues to stay high, we are going to see much higher food prices and some forms of food production will no longer make economic sense at all.
#11 Food inflation is already devastating many economies around the globe. For example, India is dealing with an annual food inflation rate of 18 percent.
#12 According to the United Nations, the global price of food reached a new all-time high in February.
#13 According to the World Bank, the global price of food has risen 36% over the past 12 months.
#14 The commodity price of wheat has approximately doubled since last summer.
#15 The commodity price of corn has also about doubled since last summer.
#16 The commodity price of soybeans is up about 50% since last June.
#17 The commodity price of orange juice has doubled since 2009.
World Bank president: 'One shock away from crisis'
For all those that believe Glenn Beck was a crazed loon, it is appearing more, and more likely that he will be right on in his predictions of a global economic collapse.
Oss, Venezuela doesn't like to sell their fuel to American flagged ships, better off going to Trinidad.
Scary stuff folks, scary stuff!
I know many love to hate him, but he is on it .....
Check that CPI number that was just released ......
3.999 for regular here in NY. Unfortunately, my MX-5 uses premium at 4.1999. I used to drive to the next town for milk and eggs, just for the fun of driving with the top down. Now I can hardly afford the milk and eggs, never mind the gas to get there.
Yup, scary stuff. But what's really scary is that so many people are so oblivious to what is going on.
Gas price was 3.75 Friday, yesterday it was down to 3.69. It's bad when you hurry to top off your tank at that price.
Have a Great Day!! :-)
Yes I agree.... and when the U.S. dollar finally collapses, and the U.S. defaults (even though many experts on CNBC said it could never happen), it will be reported in the MSM as UNEXPECTEDLY!!!
What did he say?
We should learn from our friends across the pond. Austerity and all. Just look and see for yourselves. Nearly 35 years since we built a new refinery, and yet our government lends 2.8 and up to 5 billion for one in Columbia,,,,,(borrowed money from China may I add) above and beyond the 2 billion for deep water drilling in S. America? What is really going on ?
With the greenback coming under increased pressure from Federal Reserve policies and investor appetite for more risk, there seems little direction but up for commodity prices, in particular energy and metals.
Weakness in the US currency feeds upward pressure on commodities, which are priced in dollars and thus come at a discount on the foreign markets.
One result has been a surge higher in gasoline prices to nearly $4 a gallon before the summer driving season even starts, a trend that economists say will be aggravated as demand increases and the summer storm season threatens to disrupt oil supplies.
Most of our stations are still at $3.85 a gal.
Hope the trend of going up slows down a bit!
Wishing you and your family a lovely and Blessed Easter Sunday!

Networks have refused to connect administration to steadily rising gas prices.
Weakness in the US dollar, which is causing everything to go up—including gas prices, food and stocks—is unlikely to go away soon as a selling frenzy hits the currency market.
The greenback is approaching pre-financial crisis lows and threatening to smash through its all-time low when measured against the world's predominant national currencies.
A combination of factors accounts for the weakness, with the Federal Reserve's easy-money policies, huge national debts and deficits and the consequential possibility of a debt downgrade because of the financial mess in Washington leading the way.
In Weston regular gas is now $3.95/gal.
In Sunrise I filled up for $3.87/gal.
going up everywhere by leaps and bounds.
