Voice to Text---
.Looking down into the Sea this morning I can see what looks to be arrival of the southern jet thus our Pineapple Express. Yesterday morning it picked up a plume of mostly high cirrus (whispys) and passed over the northern Sea. As the plume swung south during the day the high plume of whispys moved south with clearing the northern Sea and by late afternoon blanketing the central Sea. During the night the plume moved further south and as of 5am this morning it is over the southern portion of the Baja peninsula from just south of Concepcion Bay to the cape and the southern crossing.
Should this march continue at about the same speed the cape should clear this afternoon and the Mexican Riviera should start to see these high clouds later this afternoon. We’ll see?
At 5am the coast was clear from Mazatlan south to Central America.
The tight gradient over southern Mexico has weakened a little and the winds in the Gulf of Tehuantepec have decreased to just below Gale force winds but remain strong in the 25-30 knot ranges. It looks like it might be a couple more days before a brief crossing window might open.
Looking out into the Eastern Pacific Basin this morning. I can see the ITCZ/monsoon trough has only very light convection taking place along the zone this morning.
Further out I can see a huge Storm passing over the Hawaiian Islands this morning. Flood advisories have been issued for the island of Hawaii for this morning. This Storm is slowly moving east toward Mexico it has not lost much strength the past two days. Storm force winds accompany the Storm.
That’s what’s going on in our hood so looking now north to the west coast of America where at the top of this image a super highway has opened up for storms moving into the Great Northwest. Portland and Seattle will both see rain and snow all week. The Cascades will also see significant snowfall.
Northern California, north of Eureka will see rain all week and very cold temperatures. Hard freeze advisories have been issued from Eureka north.
From San Francisco south today through early Wednesday should be dry and cold. THEN… Wednesday after a prolonged dry period indications are that a wet weather pattern will develop across northern California and across all of northern California and central California by the end of the week. In addition to possible heavy rain these incoming weather systems may produce locally strong winds in the later half of the week and into the weekend.
Southern California will be cloudy today and extreme southern California has a cold front moving though that could bring some light rain to the region through mid morning. The mountains and deserts will be gusterly with a chance of light snow over 6000 ft.
Looking now over to the southwest I can see the low has already moved out of California and moving quickly through Arizona. This image is showing Tucson just starting to clear and most of the cloudiness moving off to the east. There does not appear to be much moisture in these clouds so if they did get some showers in the higher elevations it would be light.
Well, that’s what is going on to the north of us. Back on this side of the fence today won’t be quite as nice as yesterday but it will be very pleasant with light to moderate winds throughout the Sea with most of the Sea seeing sunshine by this afternoon. The Riviera will most likely start to see those high whispys by this afternoon.
Temperatures in the northern Sea will continue to be in the mid 60s today. The central and southern Sea the low to mid 70s today.
Enjoy today and tomorrow because it looks like as pressure builds over the Great Basin Wednesday and Thursday will see a two day blow.

73s Y'all
