.Looking down into the Sea this morning I can see that there has been less thunderbumper activity over in Sonora yesterday then the past week. That being said most of it moved out into the central Sea from around Santa Rosalia north yesterday and last night. Several large cells passed over Guaymas then moved out into the Sea since midnight and moved into the northern sea. The bay of La has a large cell come through at around 1 this morning with 25 know winds and another this morning around 5 with 37 knot wind recorded.
This morning the central Sea has a few fluffys here and there but is mostly clear. The southern Sea as well.
I can see that there was some thunderbumper activity in the mountains around the cape yesterday afternoon. It looks like a good sized cell passed over Mag Bay about the same time.
Looking south to along the Mexican Riviera where past Cabo Corrienties it is one solid band of high topped cells south to Costa Rica.
Looking in our Tropical Kitchen this morning. Gilma is well out in the Pacific about 900 miles SW of the cape and loosing strength. She has been plutoed to a tropical storm now and is of no threat to land.
The Navy has dropped invest 93E which was a developing low SW of Acapulco yesterday. Meantime we have Himicane Ernesto moving across Southern Mexico a bit south of the Tehuantepec isthmus as a tropical storm. It is steadily weakening however it will arrive over here in the Pacific this weekend most likely as a remnant low around Acapulco . The area where it is forecast to arrive has environmental conditions that are very conducive for the development of a tropical storm. Soooo there is good possibility that Ernesto could reemerge as a tropical stomp later this weekend. I don’t know if it will be renamed or not. We’ll see?
That’s about it for the Tropical Kitchen this morning. Well, I can see a tropical wave passing to the south of Cuba this morning. Its a few days away right now.
That’s what is going on in our hood so looking now north to the west coast of America where high pressure will keep thing hot throughout the weekend. The high should start to move to the east on Sunday bringing some relief to the west. Portland will see 90 degrees this weekend. San Francisco 74. Folks there may want to take the day off and go to the beach. The Sacramento valley 104. Southern California will top out at around 88 degrees this weekend.
Looking over to the southwest where they could see record highs before the high moves east of the Great Basin early next week. Tucson will see about 106 every afternoon until early next week.
There is chance of some thunderbumper activity in the lower deserts and the upper terrain but the monsoon will not return until the high move on.
That’s what is going on to the north of us. Back on this side of the Fence the next three days the Sea will continue to have moderate winds except in those areas where these thunderbumpers cross over. The forecast in general is for moderate NW winds however most winds will be thermally driven so where ever you are you will most likely have winds from the same direction as yesterday.
As long as that high is centered over the Great Basin there will not be the South/North flow in the Sierra Madra Occidentals to bring all that moisture from the Gulf of Mexico into Arizona as a monsoon. So the storms that develop along this range will drift to the west as it has for the past few days and we will continue to have these storms out in the Sea of Cortez. So keep a wary eye out in the evenings for storms in your area.
73s Y’all
