You may see this as good or bad news. Probably bad news. The GFS models have been showing the formation of hurricane off the coast of Western Africa. The models have it moving towards the Caribbean and then shifting its movement towards the northeast. The GFS model run 2011080506 has it possibly making landfall over Long Island. The 2011080512 model of the GFS has it more out to sea but can still impact the coast of New England. However, these predictions are over 2 weeks out and could change significantly. I'll keep you updated with the latest information on this possible hurricane. For now, I give it a 20% on making a landfall in the northeast.
