GRAND MANAN, N.B.

TUESDAY, DECEMBER 20/11
Posted by: GRANDMANAN, 11:48 AM GMT en Diciembre 20, 2011 +0

A breeze coming up with the sun, shifting from southerly to NW rather quickly, forecast giving NW gales later on today. Winds dying out shifting to SW overnight. Clear, temps on the plus side till end of the week. A brown Christmas in the offing, for sure.

Brother enroute to visit, spend time with mom, not much of a sailor, however the weather should get them here and return tomorrow without any problem.

Kids have school most of the week, but get first week of 2012 to make up for it.

Morning,
Brisk 27 degrees with NW wind 25 mph. Small chance of snow on Christmas Day and Monday but other then that maybe rain Thursday. Looks like a not so white Christmas. Sunday and yesterday were showed the first real blast of winter. Mid teens on Sunday and yesterday started at 7 degrees at 6 AM but 30 degrees by 3 PM with gusty SW breeze.

The island Christmas party is tonight and Cindy and I will miss it. We leave for Bangor to pick up Rachel (coming up from Philly) and can't get back for the last boat. No doubt the merchants of Bangor will appreciate that fact.

Lobster price edged up to $3.35 for boat run and $3.85 for our jumboes. It is a case of too little too late for me but still good for those chasing the bugs.

good morning Rob.
It's not like Christmas here either. The the temps on the plus side the little snow we've had will dissapear soon.
How does the Adventer haandle the rougher seas. With the rounded bow she looks like she'd give a rougher ride.
I'm lucky as motion sickness has never affected me. While working on Lake Winnipeg I found that you could surf a 20 foot wooden yall on 10 to 12 foot waves.
While climbing the back of the waves I thought that 50hp motor was going to stall out but once over the crest a little swing to the side to keep from buring the bow that 50 would just about over rev. The look on the faces on newbies was something to behold but after they realalized I wasn't going to put them to the lake bottom they too started to enjoy the ride. My biggest fear was hooking a net in the trough. I think that would have stopped us dead in the water letting the wave behind us come crashing over the stern.
Enjoy the day.
