Sky over Ross Island almost `blood red`, a slight breeze ESE, temp -10C. Temperature to remain below zero till late tonight, then rise on the plus side with rain in the forecast into the New Year, certainly a contrast in the weather in just a few days.

Emily busy at her second residence, little communication yesterday. Attending high school basketball game seems to have been the 'highlight', at leat by the last text.

Budget Meeting with Village Council last evening, went very well. Tax Rate held same as last year, an interesting excercise and process to get it done.

A few boats gearing up for scalloping to start the second Tuesday in January. Lobster catch for those fishing offshore continues to be good, the price remains low.

Another dramatic swing in weather conditons from a few hours ago. Wind has shifted to westerly, 30-35KPH, clear, -9C windchill factor indicating a mere -16C. This weather pattern till Saturday, temp increase to 6C and rain for a few days.

The ferry made a trip mid-afternoon, wind had swung and diminished. No problem for the travellers no need for the Gravol, played cards for the trip over. Emily to spend New Years Celebrations in Quispam, a new adventure for her - as long as it dosen't go too long.

The rink becoming a centre for gathering for most of the day and well into the night. The next event to prepare for his the NHL LEGENDS coming 20 JAN 12.

A wild one in commence at the moment, quiet when turned in shortly thereafter seemed the house was to take flight. Southwest gales and rain the order of the night, sometime power was off, according to the flashing clocks this morning. Temp a balmy 9C, wind attempting to change from SE to westerly later on. Wind puffing between 30-65KPH as Mother Nature decides what is going to take place.

Emily and Andrew have a reservation for the 11:30AM crossing, remains to be seen if that takes place. The weather not improving much over the next day or so, a slight window of wind reduction and change around noon. Andrew on shift tomorrow afternoon, and has not missed one to date, will see how this goes.

Ross Island showing up as daylight enters the swamp. About half-tide, harbour 'feather white' with little whitecaps and rain hard.

The waning days of 2011 suggesting the entrance to the New Year preceeded by lots of wind. One day freezing temps next day rain over the next little while. Currently an ominous red sky over Ross Island, wind picking up from south, temp -6C expected to be plus 6 and rain by tonight. Gale force southerlies till morning, then a wind change and more high winds in the forecast.

Emily away to meet Andrew to escort him here for an overnight, weather deterioating tomorrow to the degree they plan on being off here as early as possible to get back to Quispam.

Some salmon being harvested, local plant going four days this past couple of weeks to take advantage of the holiday season.

A few hours makes quite a change in the Maritime weather scene. Yesterday a typical Christmas Day had everybody returned to their abodes a fairly good snow event, complete with wind. This morning rain showers, temp hovering at freezing mark, calm, anticipate temp to drop overnight. Next week weather one day cold, next day southerly and rain - go figure.

Christmas gathering very good, a few hours of close family, a grand meal, lots of conversation, some reminiscing a good visit. A great meal, folks cleared out in good time full bellys and lots of smiles. Managed to have the house back in order in a short time, last evening very quiet around the abode.

Sand truck just went by, can imagine the roads are a bit treacherous, as temp hovers near the freezing mark.

A very MERRY CHRISTMAS to all the WU BLOGGERS, a grand one underway here at the moment.Total calm, cold @12C, bright sun. A hint of snow on the ground, in some places more than a hint, a sterotypical Martime Christmas if a fellow was writing a yarn about the day. Outlook is for a southerly influence over next few days with rain by mid-week.

Christmas Morning a bit different now that kids well into the teen years. Ever so few years ago had to keep the doors closed to prevent them getting under the tree before Santa arrived. This morning had to make a racket to get them to open gifts. A few new electronics have the residence in lockdown at the moment, not much activity that is evident at least.

Extended family gather this afternoon for dinner, a few phone calls going around the country getting caught up on the mornings activity.

Weather co-operating for Santa's flight this evening, a brisk northerly20-25KPH breeze in the forecast, changing to a fair wind home with southerly tomorrow morning. Temps to be 'seasonal' currently -7C looking across the harbour a few wisps of 'sea smoke' evident between here and the Ross Island Shore. Overcast with the odd flurry making its way to the ground, tis Christmas Eve.

Donna hard at it in the kitchen, believe one pie already cooling, the turkey just went in the oven, potatoes being prepared. She has it down to a science, of course has had a bit of experience getting prepared. The Dinner tomorrow afternoon involves our gang, Donna's father, niece and her family, and mother.

Roads appear to be a bit treacherous as raining overnight and drop in temperature makes ice in a hurry.

Appears the weather system that has caused havoc in the U.S. now made an appearance here in the northeast. The warm temps and overnight rain changing to snow and cooler temps, currently a bit of snow cover and temps declining now 0C, forecast snow and NE for next twenty-four hours, seems ideal for Santa's flight tomorrow night.

Family groups beginning to come together for the holiday, would expect next couple of days to be very busy getting folks to 'the island'(not a slight to friend David) the annual trek home well in commence.

Donna getting the turkey thawed, will prepare as much of the feast as possible tomorrow to allow her a bit of downtime during Christmas Day.

A warm @ 8C, overcast, with a slight southerly draft of wind morning underway. The forecast indicates we might get some snow, will require a major temp change to make that happen here on the Bermuda of the Maritimes today.

Eldest brother returned to his digs late yesterday after a visit with other family members in the afternoon. We had rain in the afternoon and evening, he encountered a bit of snow a few miles inland from the salt water influence.

Lobster price remains static at $3.50, not much enthusiasm for the price with no indication that it will be improving anytime soon.

Kids winding down for the Xmas Break, Emily has a major essay to submit, Rob has written some exams with improvement after having his grandmother on his case easiar to improve marks than endure sanctions and threats of further ones if no improvement, amounts to X-BOX seizure.

A cool, slightly overcast morning appearing over Ross Island. Southerly breeze making up with the rising sun, temp -10C forecast to rise into mid single digits, snow/rain showers possible by late this afternoon. Weatherman indicating either rain or snow possible till Christmas Day, for us most likely to be rain.

Brother continues his rounds this morning with trip to St. Stephen then returns to YoHo to get ready for the busy weekend. They will be heading to Myrtle Beach early in the New Year, their golf gang begins to gather early in th New Year, from various points between here and Ontario.

Lots of traps coming ashore now, the offshore guys will remain at it till end of the season, but a much less hectic pace. Scallops to begin in January, believe second Tuesday, haven't heard any reports on the quantity/price of those guys egging.

A breeze coming up with the sun, shifting from southerly to NW rather quickly, forecast giving NW gales later on today. Winds dying out shifting to SW overnight. Clear, temps on the plus side till end of the week. A brown Christmas in the offing, for sure.

Brother enroute to visit, spend time with mom, not much of a sailor, however the weather should get them here and return tomorrow without any problem.

Kids have school most of the week, but get first week of 2012 to make up for it.

A colder, calm, clear morning underway, temp -7C, forecast for increase in the wind for the next couple of days. No one direction sustained for any length of time, swinging from south to north and all points in between on the western side of the compass. Temps to be 'seasonable' leading up to the Santa flight on the weekend.

Emily returned, believe with some reluctance, from her weekend in Quispam. Plan well in hand for the holidays to go back and forth Andrew here and New Years Eve there.

Haven't caught up on the local fishing news, do see more gear being landed. The catch has either dropped off, combined with the poor price makes the decision to put them on the bank much easiar.

Seasonable comes to mind for this morning, overcast, a cool -9C, wind NW @10-15kph, giving a wind chill factor in the low teens. Similar conditions to remain for next day or so, mild mid week with possibility of showers. Longrange appears we are getting more winter like conditions headed our way.

The Santa Claus Parade a great effort, all the floats showed great imagination and hours of work involved. Parade route well attended, the visit with Santa at the Complex well attended. The boys played to a good and appreciative crowd till after 9PM. A great social gathering a week before the old fellow goes to work.

Donna up to her neck in Christmas Day preparation, the freezer getting filled with all the goodies, turkey waiting for day to start thawing, wonèt be long now.

Emily in Quispam till this afternoon, having a grand time, has been adopted it would seem from this end at least. Andrew expected to make an appearance here over the holiday, how long remains to be deteremined, seems more going on in the Quispam area that we canèt compete with.

A grand one looking out over the harbour this morning,calm, bright sun just about as far south over Ross Island as she is going to travel this year. Temp a modest -4C, more seasonal for sure. Weekend clear and cool and cooler for Christmas Week.

Shopping stated to be complete, however will not be till the stores close on Christmas Eve. Trip over pretty uneventful, lots of wind, however new ferry not a problem. Donna now has a greater window of opportunity to travel in the winter. Stores more than a little busy, managed to get what needed to be done, and then some of course. Emily travelled on to Quispam, then travelled back with 'what's his name' for a brief visit around noon.

Lots of similar folks catching up before Christmas, a couple of yarns of what is going on then time to tie up and get the loot home. Rob did some shopping, an extra gift or so I noticed for somebody outside the house.

Santa Claus Parade this evening, looking seasonal, temps not too bad, clear and cool, no wind. Rob and his group playing at the gym for the community get together, and visit with Santa. A few Beatles tunes in the repetoire, for the older set am certain, 'something for everyone'. The people getting the Parade together a bit haggard last few days, however the payback something to behold.

Overcast, wind letting up from SW less than 20KPH at the moment, to swing NW, temp to almost plummet overnight into the high minus single digits, clear for the weekend.

Rob missed his permit by one question, had time to go over his answers changed correct answer to wrong. He was a bit subdued for most of the morning. A number of his peer group same fate, but also some of them now possess the coveted 'Learners', maybe next month and little more preparation will work for him.

Emily off to Quispam to 'deliver' gifts, will return on Sunday. Donna, and Rob with me as driver heading out to finish up Xmas Shopping, Shauna has opted to remain to handle the fort, weather is a consideration for her.

Boat didn't make her final trip last night, when she come in mid afternoon high water presented the skipper a bit of a challenge to get her secure. He managed very well, first time those extreme conditions, i.e. high tide and high southerly combined to give him a challenge, both the skipper and the vessel up to the effort.

A weather change underway, a sliver of bright red sky over Ross Island Shore disappearing behind heavy overcast sky. As dayight breaks the southerly flow increasing, gale force for most of the day into the evening, temp currently -3C. Wind to be around till late tomorrow, however a wind shift to west in the forecast.

Rob goes for his first attempt at obtaining Driving Permit first thing this morning.great to have the level of confidence that it appears to be a mere formality to write the exam.

Local sea urchin fishery well underway for the limited quota available. Indications the local conservation measures voluntarily implemented by the license holders having positive results, many smaller eggs now showing up.

A typical weather scenario this morning, overcast, temp around the freezing mark, wind from NW 15-20KPH. Similar conditions for the next few days, might refer to them as seasonal, outlook for the weekend southerly influence and warmer.

Ferry busy last evening, seemed to be full, with tractor trailers and local group. The final trip also had quite a trip counted ten tractor trailers and a line of vehicles. The fourth trip becoming utilized more on both sides of the route, good to see.

Notice the crows are still around, past years they would have been gone to warmer climes long before this date.

Return to the Bermuda of the Maritimes this evening, a nice looking morning here in St. George, temp near the freezing mark, calm. Similar conditions anticipated for the next day or so. Still far from Christmas type weather here in the Bay of Fundy.

Managed to capture a few minutes with brother next up the line, great to see them. They are preparing for a Christmas Dinner on the weekend, a combination of family members and neighbours now a total of twenty-seven on the guest list, ambitious to say the least.

Not the same view this morning to get an idea of what the weather is looking like. St. George for the next couple of days. Temp has increased overnight at the freezing mark at the moment.

Trip across left at 7PM at least a dozen vehicles and a couple of trucks, was off the ferry at 845PM, a quick trip for sure.

Weather reflecting the calandar this morning, bright sunrise over Ross Island, calm, a temp of -4C, not expected to rise much past the freezing mark. Similar weather for next couple of days then a southerly influence bringing plus temps once again.

The boats with license for sea urchins getting prepared. Thier season starts next week, haven't heard what the price is looking like, however on the mainland believe the catch and price have been good.

Lots of boats tending traps yesterday the catch has leveled off, but still considered good this far into the season.

A warm soggy morning underway, overcast, showers overnight, temp a mild 6C. Forecast suggesting more showers, wind shifting to west with clearing and cooler temps the result.

Both kids below decks, Emily had a babysitting gig, Rob visiting to North Head for the evening. Emily babysitting again today, her having a vehicle makes it easiar to get around to these commitments.

Friend that dropped off the lobsters, now nearly history, the chowder just great, has most of his traps on the bank.

A change in the weather, for the moment, relatively calm, wind changed to the SW enough to move the flag. Temp 3C, to rise mid single digits, rain and higher SW by this evening. Similar weather conditions for the weekend.

Harbour calm, a slight hint of coming overcast, but nice red sun showing above the tree line on Ross Island.

A number of old trees down in the breeze yesterday, a few of my decorations relocated, pulled the stakes out of the ground. Folks travelling on the ferry advising no problems, sustained winds near gale force most of the daylight hours.

A nasty one ramping up this morning, planned Xmas Shopping placed on hold due to weather conditions. Currently wind coming up with the sun, steady 25KPH gusting to 45KPH,Gale Force expected till this evening, combined with heavy rain. Temp a mild 12C, lots of rain, no let up till late this evening.

Nobody complaining about not travelling this morning, will be late next week before commitments allow another day to get it done. Nice to have a time line to put a bit of pressure on, plus some of the articles will be ordered online by the end of the day.

Council involved in the annual process of Village Budget for 2012, always an interesting process, hope is to have it completed before Xmas, if not by years end for certain. Getting needed bodies at the table a bit of a logistics task between fishing and seasonal commitments.

First week of December and fog has decreased visibility the order of the day. A bit cooler @ 5C with a northerly influence in the draft of wind enough to move the flag. Gale force winds all over the compass in the forecast for the next day or so.

Damp weather causing havoc with my spider web of cords all over the lawn. A bit of moisture shorts out the whole complicated well thought out system, a lot of moving plugs around to make it right again.

A trip to St. John to finish the last of the shopping in jepordy with the high winds in the forecast. Time is getting close, however can't remember when these things ever went the way they are planned.

Southerly influence bringins overcast, threat of rain,at daylight a balmy 11C. The sliver of red sky over Ross Island beginning to wane as the rain showers approach. Warm temps and threat of rain to remain till Thursday, then notherly influence for a couple of days.

Emily has returned to the fold on the 1:30PM, stopped for her hours at the B&G Club, grubbed up then disappeared for the evening. Feeling a bit better this morning.

A few of the offshore boats did thier thing later on in the day, would have been nasty for most of the day, wind finally relented by early afternoon.

Council Meeting last night a vote to purchase Swallowtail Light from the Federall Government passed. Once the sale is complete plan is to negoiate with the group currently restoring the Lightkeepers House, a very active and dedicate group of individuals.

Warm southerly continues to influence the weather today, a mild 9C, a SW draft enough to move the flag about, expected to rise into double digits, a bit of moisture with a bit more wind the order of the day.

Emily negoiated another day in Quispam, supposed to be on first trip this morning. Not feeling the best yesterday, up all night with flu mess, will be staying put till mid-day.

Boats will be at it in force this morning, tide is up see a couple of them in the 'shore' getting bait rather than haul it to the wharf and hoisting it aboard, much more convienant.

A wind change now SW, and breezing to near gale force for this afternoon. Overcast, temp 4C, expected to rise near double digit territory. Rain in the forecast for tomorrow and Tuesday, still hard to believe it is Christmas month when one considers the weather conditions.

Emily to return sometime today, which ferry yet to be determined. She has had a good time getting some of her Xmas Shopping completed, and generally enjoying what St. John has to offer along with 'whats his name' might also be a consideration.

A number of the boats out yesterday, however as David mentioned don't appear to be the level of enthusiasm to go anymore than nessecary.

A bit more season like this morning, overcasst, temp at the freezing mark a draft from the NE giving a wind chill factor on the negative side of the temp chart. No great increase in temps before tomorrow, then clear and temps in single digits.

Emily reporting in from Quispam, but for some reason not with the same regularity when she is local. She was on the ramp, which is not working properly, and had to back off, no incident a boost for her self-confidence.

A small tour revealed many houses decorated for the season, well done for sure.

Tis a grand one looking across the harbour this morning, still cool @-2C, a nice red sky as the sun struggles to get up over Ross Island, calm. Temp to rise into middle single digits, same till first of the new week, then southerly and rain for a couple of days.

Emily on the boat for a weekend in Quispam, last visit before Xmas, a grand day for a trip across the Bay for sure. She must have found a compatriot as the txting to her grandmother has now ceased.

The Tree in the back porch interior decorating the order of the next few days, exactly where it is to be placed yet to be decided.

A small change in weather conditions, a bit cooler @5C, not expected to rise much, overcast, with clearing the order of the day. A nice weekend in store, temps a bit cooler but still unseasonable on the warm side.

Glancing out the window two Blue Herons at the tide mark, they should be long gone to warmer climes to the south. Another indicator the weather is not where it should be temperature wise.

Lobsters still being shipped, pretty well as quick as they are landed. Many headed to Boston Town, with some processors still in the buying mode.
