Dry Slot

Opening Remarks

Howdy, y'all.

Well, after lurking in the background for a couple of years, I finally pushed the button. Voilà! A new blogger enters the lists.

I'm not really sure what I'm getting into here. Mostly I have been content to view Wunderground's content. Lately I have been leaving a few comments on other people's blogs, especially Skyepony's. Thanks, Skye, for putting up with me. I'll try not to be a stranger.

What worries me is that maintaining a blog implies a responsibility. I've tried to fill in a few of the obvious blanks, upload a couple of favorite photos and so on. Now I'm obliged to create content of my own. I'm not sure how long or how often I'll be able to stop by, let alone write new entries, moderate comments and such. We'll see. I reckon if this doesn't work out, I can always shut 'er down.

A disclaimer: I am not a meteorologist. With respect to weather, what you see here will be my subjective viewpoint, not a trained observer's.

I intend to talk mainly about weather -- not religion, nor politics, birthdays or lost kids. It's not about my personal life. People who comment can say whatever they please. I believe in freedom of speech. In this case I suppose I should amend that to read, "freedom of speech subject to whatever the Weather Underground management will permit". Guess I really ought to go find and read their policy statement...

... Ah, yes, that sounds reasonable. The idea, as I understand it, is to create a virtual community here. I encourage visitors to my blog to be good citizens of that community. I notice that there are controls here for 'banned' and 'ignored' lists. Gotta figure out what those are for and how to use them. I will jettison outright drivel, if I think someone is abusing my hospitality. Be nice -- and have fun.

Welcome to Wunderground blog land :-)

Great photos I like the contrast between the surf in one and the mountain background in the other...

Quoting Bogon:
Unemployed software engineer. "What is that?", you may ask. It's someone who has time to blog about the weather...
LOL That 'splains alot!:)

Welcome to the WUrld as represented in an alternate universe on WU. don't worry about keeping up with it, most of us don't! it's a diversion after all not an all-encompassing addiction right? bwaaahahaha!!

Thanks, 'Walker. "Mountains to the sea" is what Tarheel tourism boosters say about North Carolina. I'm stuck in the middle.

"Bwaaahahaha!!", indeed, Rainman. Welcome to my web. Two victims and counting...

I suppose in between the storms
that mother nature brings we
get into human nature issues
right or wrong - may be not to some
people's likings, but we are community
and I suppose at times, anything goes - lOL

Hello, EmmyRose. There's room in my heart for Tejas. I lived in Austin for a while. Left some friends there.

Synthman, we've spoken before. I'm one of the dots on your map. And yes, I do visit your blog often. It's about the closest, geographically speaking, and most regularly maintained WU blog for Piedmont NC I have found. Thanks for the work you do.

Ah yes, I remember doing that map thing.

Thanks for visiting! I've started a forecast map now too (at the top of the blog), and I try to keep it updated every day. Hopefully I'll get the forecast right every now and then LOL!
