Better enjoy it while you can. Next week we will be back in the oven.
yesterday's high was 78F
today's low is 51F
like pittsburgh said....almost feels like a few days in September. you have to love this weather. a nice break from the heat.
this is my kind of summer....hot to this and then hot. i don't mind it being a bit dry, less time spent cutting the grass, just as long as the farmers get a splash every so often.
I heard that after the winters of 1976-1977 and 1977-1978 the summers were brutal too. I think the only way to get substantial rain is having a tropical system come up the coast. Remember Floyd back in 1999 when we had a harsh summer?

Yeah, I have a love/hate relationship with 90 days. Philly hasn't matched the 1971-2000 avg of 25.7 days of 90 since 2006, but was near that number in 2007 & 2008.
2010: 17 (so far)

Looks like it will be a dry heat with low humidity Saturday - Tuesday. Slight humidity Wednesday and may approach high humidity Thursday.

I last cut my Aunt's grass 2 weeks ago today. I went over there this morning to make another cut and it is entirely singed yellow-brown, looks like a real fire hazard. I didn't even cut it today because I'd be going over nothing.
Might not see a drop of rain for the foreseable next 2 weeks. With the hot temperatures, it's becoming a semi-arid desert so far this summer. Look at that big hole on the 5-day precip map above.

Humidity doesnt look too bad for the next 7 days. Low Sunday, slight Monday, moderate Tu-W-Th-F-Sa. Forecast high 99 in Philadelphia on Monday, 101 Tuesday, 98 Wednesday, max heat index 100 on Monday, 105 Tuesday, 102 Wednesday. Low 83 Wednesday morning.
There is some talk of a cold front trying to make its way down into our area Saturday, possibly bringing us some precip, if the precip makes it this far.

Excessive heat watch in effect from Tuesday afternoon through
Wednesday evening...
The National Weather Service in Mount Holly has issued an
excessive heat watch... which is in effect from Tuesday afternoon
through Wednesday evening.
Another round of near record heat... combined with increasing
humidity Tuesday and Wednesday... will result in heat index values
reaching or exceeding 100 degrees for a few hours both afternoons.
Another heat wave is starting across the region this afternoon...
and will continue for most of the upcoming week. Highs Monday will
top out in the mid to upper 90s... with a few 100 degree reading
possible. However... humidity values will still be comparatively
low... so heat index values Monday afternoon will actually be a
couple of degrees lower than the air temperature.
Increasing humidity values are expected Tuesday and particularly
Wednesday. High temperatures both days as expected to top out near
100 degrees in many places. The increased humidity will send heat
index values to near 102 degrees both Tuesday and Wednesday
afternoon. Lows Tuesday night may not drop below the 80 degree
mark.
With little in the way of significant relief in sight... heat
index values may approach or exceed 100 degrees for a time
Thursday afternoon as well.
Precautionary/preparedness actions...
An excessive heat watch means that a prolonged period of hot
temperatures is expected. The combination of hot temperatures and
high humidity will combine to create a dangerous situation in
which heat illnesses are possible. Drink plenty of fluids... stay
in an air-conditioned room... stay out of the sun... and check up
on relatives and neighbors.

Trentonthunder pulled up the stat the other day. I believe it was 2002, although I am not certain.
Doh!! I see it.
Yes. Sometimes it's designated for the highly urbanized areas (concrete) within those counties, or the more typical hot spots like the southern Pinelands in southern New Jersey (sandy soils) etc...
Also, heat warning criterea in the Delaware and Maryland counties are slightly higher than for New Jersey and Pennsylvania.
Just got back from a few days at the beach. What beautiful weather.
The high yesterday was 93F and so far today I am at 97.1F and it is still climbing. The plants were so famished when I got back early this afternoon.
Glad you had a nice trip Blizz.
I've officially hit a buck even today. What do you mean Blizz, your station sent you a message or something?
I believe I'm correct in saying that dry soils like we have aid in higher daytime temperatures by a few degrees while keeping dewpoints a little lower than when soils are normal correct? I'm like 90% sure.
my Vantage Pro has no message. could be it doesn't have a high temp message for the Vantage Pro. I must say for not being fan aspirated, I have been very pleased with the temp and humidity readings
All right, thanks. I live in Camden County so I was curious.
Man I can't wait to get myself a Davis someday, just can't do it right now.
