Coastal Hazard Statement, Flash Flood Watch
Statement as of 3:51 AM CDT en Mayo 24, 2015

... High rip current risk remains in effect through Monday
evening...

* timing... through Monday evening.

* Impacts... will pose a hazard to even experienced swimmers...
especially near rock groins... jetties and piers.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

There is a high risk of rip currents. Life threatening rip
currents are likely in the surf zone.

Rip currents are powerful channels of water flowing quickly away
from shore... which occur most often at low spots or breaks in The
Sandbar and in the vicinity of structures such as groins...
jetties and piers. Heed the advice of lifeguards... beach patrol...
flags and signs. Swim near a lifeguard.

If you become caught in a rip current... do not panic. Yell for
help. Do not exhaust yourself and stay afloat while waiting for
help. If you have to swim out of a rip current... swim parallel to
shore and back toward the beach when possible. Do not attempt to
swim directly against a rip current as you will tire quickly.

350 am CDT sun may 24 2015

... Flash Flood Watch remains in effect through Monday evening...

The Flash Flood Watch continues for

* a portion of southeast Texas... including the following
counties... Austin... Brazoria... Brazos... Burleson... Chambers...
Colorado... Fort Bend... Galveston... Grimes... Harris... Houston...
Jackson... Liberty... Madison... Matagorda... Montgomery... Polk...
San Jacinto... Trinity... Walker... Waller... Washington and
Wharton.

* Through Monday evening

* at least two rounds of showers and thunderstorms will move
through southeast Texas in association with a pair of upper
disturbances. The first round is expected today... with the
second round moving through Monday afternoon and night.
Additional periods of rainfall are expected between the two
disturbances as well.

* Impacts... the threat for flash flooding as well as mainstem
river flooding is high. Intense rain rates combined with the
potential for thunderstorms to repeatedly move over the same
areas will produce street flooding as well as rises on affected
rivers. Residents are urged to have multiple ways to get weather
information this Holiday weekend.

Total rainfall accumulations between now and Tuesday will likely
range between 2 to 4 inches across most of southeast Texas.
However... due to the high potential for training rains and a
favorable upper level pattern... isolated totals of 7 to 11 inches
are very possible. Localized... but possible.
