... Thunderstorms with locally heavy rain and small hail through
early this evening...

Showers and thunderstorms will continue to develop across the
Sierra... western Nevada and northeast California this afternoon
through early evening. Most showers and storms will move slowly
to the west or southwest at 10 mph or less. Some of the stronger
storms could produce locally heavy rain and small hail. Ponding of
water on area roads and gusty outflow winds up to 40 mph are also
possible.

In the higher elevations... generally above 8000 feet... accumulating
snow and small hail are possible. Slow down if driving through
hail or snow... as roads will be slick.
