... Low wind chills late tonight into Wednesday morning...
Cold Arctic air will once again impact impact southeast South Carolina and southeast Georgia tonight into Wednesday morning. Temperatures will bottom out in the teens well inland and mid to upper 20s near the coast around sunrise Wednesday. These cold temperatures combined with northwest winds as high as 5 to 10 mph will produce wind chill values as low as 10 to 15 degrees in most communities late tonight through the middle of Wednesday morning... with some wind chills down in the single digits across parts of Allendale... Jenkins and Screven counties. Even at the beaches the wind chills will be down to less than 20 degrees.
The cold temperatures and low wind chills could lead to hypothermia if appropriate precautions are not taken.
Precautionary/preparedness actions...
Make sure you wear layered clothing including a hat and gloves if you must venture outdoors through mid morning.
Use extreme caution with space heaters. Many fires have been caused by either malfunctioning units or heaters placed too close to flammable objects. Never leave your home with a space heater in operational Mode.
